Xiaohongshu will launch a program to support mini-dramas

Xiaohongshu will create a new ecosystem “Xiahongshu Mini-Drama” for publishing short films in high quality.

The new feature is in beta testing and has not been released into a separate platform. Video content with micro-dramas is located on the page of the influencer or actor who stars in it. However, neither the cover nor the text indicates the episode number or title. The drama search system on Xiaohongshu is still working poorly, and the production and release itself are going quite slowly. This phrase went viral in Douyin thanks to the Canadian blogger 保保熊 with an audience of more than 577 thousand subscribers. Within a week, he gained more than 100 thousand subscribers, and views on the hashtag reached 100 million.

💬Read on Weibo: trend cābiān 擦边

On Weibo, a designation has appeared for content that is on the verge of what is acceptable by Internet censorship - 擦边 (cābiān) . Or in original football terminology, it is a ball that is passed along the edge of the court line.

The controversy surrounding the new trend is intensifying on Weibo. Most users condemn such content, and there is no hashtag with this designation on the site at all. Beyond online debates, denouncing "cābiān" also has real-world consequences.

Despite the decline in consumer prices and deflation in China, famous foreign brands are increasing prices in China. From July 1, Estée Lauder Group will increase retail prices due to rising prices for raw materials. This is the second price increase for the brand's products this year.
