Our curriculum envisions a practice-based and collective study process where students can discover their own potentials thereby develop their creativity with the support of our faculty members, all experts in various fields; illustration, typography, photography, computer graphics, video production, and/or packaging design. Moreover, our alumni who are specialized in the digital communication area can also work in fields which are becoming increasingly important such as; web design, video and film technology, 3D visualization and animation, sound and moving image design, interactive information design.

DeNature presents social awareness posters created by 31 students of the VCD 410 Advertising Photography course conducted by Lecturer Ersan Çeliktaş in the Department of Visual Communication Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics.

The exhibition addresses a range of environmental concerns, including climate change, pollution, animal protection, deforestation, and the impact of human activity on nature. These works bring together photography and design to draw attention to environmental issues and raise awareness. Some of the works also incorporate AI-generated visuals as part of the creative process. DeNature refers to the transformation and disruption of the natural world through human intervention. The exhibition invites viewers to critically reflect on the consequences of human actions and reconsider our relationship with the environment.

Bu yıl beşincisi düzenlenen Karşıyaka Belediyesi Kent Düşünce Merkezi Yaz Okulu kapsamında katılımcı üniversite öğrencileri Karşıyaka sahilinde belirlenen bir bölge için tasarım çalışmaları gerçekleştiriyorlar. Mimarlık, Şehir Planlama, Endüstriyel Tasarım, Grafik Tasarım ve Görsel İletişim Tasarımı bölümlerinden öğrencilerin katıldığı yaz okuluna bölümümüz hocalarından Dr. Emre Yıldız da katkı sağlıyor. Bugün hocamızın kılavuzluğunda Karşıyaka sokaklarında gerçekleşen saha çalışmasında öğrenciler apartmanların üzerindeki grafik öğeler ve buna bağlı tipografik kültür üstüne gözlem yapma ve tartışma fırsatı yakaladılar. Karşıyaka özelinde tasarım kültürü ve tasarım tarihi ekseninde yapılan bu çalışmanın yaz okulunda üretilecek projelerin görsel kimliğini belirlemede temel oluşturması amaçlanıyor.

Öğrencilerimiz Melike Dülger, Gizem Savaş, Eda Uysalcık ve Amirhossein Chamanitabriz’in VCD 202 Tasarım Stüdyosu II dersi kapsamında hazırladığı projeler, İzmir Planlama Ajansı (İZPA) tarafından düzenlenen “İki Çizgi Arasında: Geleceğin İzmir’ine Bugünden Bir Bakış” sergisinde yer aldı. Can Dereli, Emre Yıldız, Tuğcan Güler ve Sena Adalı yürütücülüğünde gerçekleştirilen derste öğrencilerimiz, İzmir temalı kartpostal serileri ve kitleri tasarladılar. Kentin kimliğine dair özgün alt temalar belirleyen öğrencilerimiz; “İzmir’de Yeşilçam”, “Doku Hafızası”, “Sokak Satıcıları” ve “Kuşlar” konulu tasarımlarıyla sergide izleyicilerle buluştu. İzmir’in geçmişi, bugünü ve geleceği arasında düşünsel bir köprü kurarak kentin 2074 vizyonunu çok boyutlu bir perspektifle ele alan bu özel sergi, 5 Temmuz 2026 tarihine kadar Kültürpark Atlas Pavyonu’nda ziyaret edilebilir.

Projects created by our students Melike Dülger, Gizem Savaş, Eda Uysalcık, and Amirhossein Chamanitabriz as part of the VCD 202 Design Studio II course were featured in the exhibition “Between Two Lines: A Glimpse of the Future of İzmir from Today,” organized by the İzmir Planning Agency (İZPA). Under the guidance of Can Dereli, Emre Yıldız, Tuğcan Güler, and Sena Adalı, our students designed series of İzmir-themed postcards and kits. Identifying unique subthemes related to the city’s identity, our students presented their designs—including “Yeşilçam in İzmir,” “Textural Memory,” “Street Vendors,” and “Birds”—to the exhibition’s visitors. This special exhibition, which builds a conceptual bridge between İzmir’s past, present, and future and explores the city’s 2074 vision from a multidimensional perspective, is open to visitors at the Kültürpark Atlas Pavilion until July 5, 2026.

The final photography workshop of the semester started yesterday with our guest Mert Acar.

On the first day of the workshop titled “Landscape as an Encounter”, our students had the opportunity to meet Mert Acar and learn about his experiences. Afterwards, they received feedback on the landscape photos they took during the exercise session.
