In Solidarity
According to WHO, 1 in 3 women experience violence in their lifetime. This means that, there are women in our families who, may have been violated or will be violated if, things remain the same.
A key fact from PAHO is that, men are more likely to be perpetrators, if they have:
- Low education
- A history of child abuse
-Exposure to domestic violence against their mothers
-Harmful use of alcohol
- Attitudes of accepting violence
-A sense of entitlement over women
Evidence exists that advocacy and, empowerment counseling are promising in preventing or reducing violence against women.
Today, as we celebrate the life of Andrea, we shall remember all the women our sweet T&T has lost due to violence.
May we remain united in doing our part to Stop Violence Against Women, starting in our homes.
