Trinidadian Man Extradited to U.S. to Face 128 Charges of Child S*x Crimes
Story:
On October 23, 2024, Farzan Mohammed, a Trinidadian national wanted for 128 child s*x crime offenses, was extradited from Trinidad and Tobago to the United States. The 40-year-old man faces charges for a series of alleged s*xual crimes committed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including r**e, s*xual assault, and child exploitation, for which he could be sentenced to over 40 years in prison.
Mohammed was initially charged in Pennsylvania in June 2023, after which he fled to Trinidad and Tobago. Acting on an international arrest request from U.S. law enforcement, Trinidadian authorities apprehended him in South Trinidad on April 9, 2024. His extradition proceedings were finalized after the Trinidad and Tobago Court of Appeal dismissed his challenges in September 2024, and the country’s Attorney General, Reginald Armour, signed a Warrant of Removal on October 4, paving the way for Mohammed’s transfer.
U.S. marshals and diplomatic security agents escorted Mohammed from Port of Spain back to the U.S., with significant support from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Customs and Immigration, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and the FBI. U.S. Ambassador Candace Bond praised the collaborative efforts, stating, “This extradition underscores the strong partnership between our nations in combatting crime and upholding justice. Together, we have shown that offenders will be held accountable, regardless of where they try to hide.”
This case highlights the commitment of both countries to address and prosecute crimes impacting vulnerable individuals, underscoring the strength of their diplomatic and law enforcement alliance.
