I've spent 3 years helping people feel the climate crisis, not just understand it.
Today I'm putting a name to that work. I'm Maya, and I'm The Climate Girl.
I'm a digital climate communications consultant based in Trinidad and Tobago, and my thing is turning climate complexity into content that connects. That means campaigns, video production, storytelling strategy and a deep commitment to the issues that shape my part of the world.
Loss & damage. Just transition. Climate justice.
Some of what I've been up to:
— Shot and edited five videos for the Ital is Vital campaign that helped put the Ital Food Festival on the map this year
— Collaborated with the Sport Company of Trinidad and Tobago on a Climate Change and Sport campaign that sparked real conversation
— Directed, shot and edited the content for for the reintroduction of the Fondes Amandes Community Reforestation Project — bringing a vital conservation story back into the public eye
— Produced and promoted content around Gayap, celebrating this tradition of communal labour as a living model of climate resilience and community action
And this is just the beginning.
I'm building this space to share my work, connect with communicators doing meaningful things, and be honest about what it takes to tell climate stories that actually matter.
