Most organizations have a crisis plan.
Very few practice crisis discipline.

A plan is a document.
Discipline is behavior.

If your crisis response depends on:

• Routing everything through layers of approval

The strongest organizations build crisis muscle before they need it — through clear roles, trusted spokespeople, and a culture of timely communication.

Is AI really the threat to PR and Corporate Communications — or is misunderstanding it?
Here's my two cents.

The real issue isn’t AI itself.
It’s whether we know how to use it to push our work toward excellence, while understanding the ethics and very real dangers that come with it.

In communications, AI doesn’t replace judgment, values, or credibility.
It supports them — helping us draft faster, monitor sentiment, and spot patterns — so we can focus on what truly matters: strategy, trust, and reputation.

Used responsibly, AI strengthens our work.
Used carelessly, it can weaken trust.

Those who lead with AI won’t lose relevance.
They’ll set the standard for the profession.

Crisis communication isn’t something you switch on during emergencies.
It’s something you practice every day.

Today, crises don’t announce themselves.
They show up as:
• A leaked internal email
• A viral customer complaint
• An employee speaking out publicly
• A leadership decision taken out of context

By the time a company says, “We’re in crisis mode,”
the narrative is already forming — without them.

The organizations that recover fastest aren’t the ones with the best press releases.
They’re the ones that:
• Communicate clearly when facts are still evolving
• Empower leaders to speak with consistency
• Align internal and external messaging before pressure hits

Crisis readiness is no longer a document.
It’s a discipline.

🙄: Someone needs to tell them — knowing what to say, when to say it, and when to stay silent is a skill too many public figures in Trinidad and Tobago still need.

Communications isn’t just about getting attention — it’s about building credibility, trust, and influence with all stakeholders. Timing, tone, and context are just as important as the message itself.

Combining insight, foresight, and restraint can position an individual as sensible, respected, and, in some cases, strategic. A measured word can make a leader respected — a careless one can make them infamous.

The best communicators know: sometimes saying nothing is more powerful than speaking without strategy.
