I had only been playing tennis for 2 years. At my second ever tournament, after I won a match, I overheard a female coach say to her player, “You let that little Indian girl from Fyzabad beat you?”
Those words stuck with me, not as hurt, but as fuel. They still echo in my mind when things get tough, and they push me to be better.
Back then, if you told me I’d become a coach, I would’ve laughed. That wasn’t the plan. The plan was to play for Trinidad and Tobago, to compete internationally. But life happens. Injuries happen. And still, God always has a plan.
Today, I coach full time. I get to share this beautiful sport with both children and adults. I’ve found my purpose. And now, I’ve been given the honour of coaching one of our National U12 teams, alongside three other incredible coaches.
This “little Indian girl from Fyzabad” is just getting started.
Ain’t God amazing?! 🙏🏽🎾
