Two years ago on my 29th birthday, I opened my company in Taiwan.
I didn't really know what to do with it, except that I wanted to help people tell their stories. With architecture and a few graphic design skills (very few), I didn't know much about the world of brand design, strategy, management.
After a few failed meetings, I realized that I lacked so much knowledge and that I needed to download a lot of concepts, and quickly. I started to consume anything I saw recommended in and around brand design. Consuming knowledge is one thing, but since I was in a foreign country and nobody was expecting anything of me, I also thought "what the hell" and actually tried and tested the methods I encountered in books.
I kept what worked, pitched what wasn't, continued to bob and weave. From the "Build-Measure-Learn" approach from Lean Startup to the 12 Commandments of "The Win Without Pitching Manifesto" to anything Simon Sinek, Fabian Geyrhalter, or Marty Neumeier, and of course the wealth of knowledge I received from Chris Do: Business Designer and his vision to teach people to do what they love...it’s all in there. You've all been a great inspiration and I'm sure you'll recognise some homage to you in this video.
Two years on, I know a bit more about branding, still just a little about graphic design, meetings are going better, still so much more to learn... I don't know what this company will become, but so far the process has been damn fun.
Huge thanks to Francisco Garrido Guerrero for the awesome video and the energy you put into it. Thank you John Murn for the great words and Garret Clarke for the input.
PS : Are you a startup looking for rounds of investment and need an agency to help you communicate your vision to potential investors?
Let's talk!
Stories are connective tissues. They create memories. They have the power to inspire, to create empathy, to empower people. Your story is your most valuable ...
