Dill Pickle Grilled Cheese Recipe
Ingredients (Makes 2 sandwiches)
4 slices of sourdough bread (or your favorite sandwich bread)
4 tablespoons butter, softened
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (or 4 slices)
½ cup sliced dill pickles (drain excess juice)
Optional: 1 tablespoon dill pickle juice (for extra tang)
Optional: 1 teaspoon chopped fresh dill or dried dill for garnish
Optional: 1 teaspoon spicy mustard or mayo (spread on inside for added flavor)
Instructions
Prep the Bread:
Spread softened butter on one side of each bread slice. The buttered side will face outward when grilling.
Build the Sandwiches:
Place 2 slices of bread, butter-side down, on a clean surface or plate.
Add a layer of cheese, followed by a generous layer of dill pickle slices.
(Optional) Drizzle with a tiny bit of pickle juice and sprinkle with fresh or dried dill.
Top with the remaining cheese and the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
Grill to Perfection:
Heat a skillet or nonstick pan over medium heat.
Place the sandwiches in the pan and grill for 3–4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Serve:
Slice in half and serve warm. Great with tomato soup or a side of extra pickles!
Tips
Use different cheeses like mozzarella, gouda, or provolone for a twist.
Want a crunchier bite? Add a thin layer of crushed potato chips inside before grilling!
