“We are engaged in work that is directed to the future. That is, right now, for example, not a single housewife will, of course, receive any benefit from the fact that we discovered an asteroid. But when we discover many such celestial bodies, it becomes clear how our solar system works,” said Sergey Nazarov. “Accordingly, we estimate where objects are located, in what orbits they fly, and we understand, for example, how often they can collide with our planet, at what characteristic distances and speeds they move. In this way, we can ensure the safety of our Earth.”

In addition, if it is possible to detect super-mineral resources on any asteroid, for which it is worth flying into space, then experts determine which spacecraft are needed for this, the specialist explained.

“We are working for the future. Everything is being studied and in all directions: galaxies, variable stars, exoplanets, asteroids,” Nazarov added.

He also noted that the benefits of this work will become noticeable in 100 years. According to the specialist, in the future a person will be able to fly to an asteroid, extract water from a hydrocomet and other resources. In addition, people will learn to take aside dangerous space objects that threaten the Earth.
