Preparing to attend a wedding this summer? We recommend making a checklist, to ensure that all bases are covered and no key elements are overlooked. Wedding guest bags are the quiet hero of your ceremony outfit: the right purse can become the pièce de résistance of a look. The dress – or shorts suit – you choose is important, but a hero bag can add just the right finishing touch. Preparing to attend a wedding this summer? It would seem we are in the middle of a revival age in Hollywood, with tons of classic TV shows and films, like The Munsters and Top Gun, making comebacks. This new age of old has brought about a second wind for the careers of actors like Brendan Fraser, in a move fondly referred to as the Brenaissance. Fans are reveling in The Mummy star’s comeback, and as it turns out, there may even be a revival of one of Fraser’s best roles in the talks, and I’ve got my fingers tightly crossed for this one.

Apparently there have been talks about a sequel to Encino Man, one of Brendan Fraser’s first big movies from back in the early ‘90s. The film sees Fraser as a caveman preserved in ice who gets thawed out by two outcast California teens, played by Pauly Shore and Sean Astin, who then walk him through living in the modern world in the hopes that he makes them more popular.

In an interview with Inverse for a feature on how Encino Man was made, star Pauly Shore touches on the possibility of a sequel to the Disney teen film. The comedic actor has spoken in the past about the desire to be involved in a sequel, and it seems like he would still be on board if all the pieces fell into place. Here is what he said, exactly:

Tears of the gods, stalwart for grannies, a boy’s best friend or dissolved in vinegar for an Egyptian Queen – June’s birthstone, pearl, is not, of course, a stone, but the creation of a shellfish in response to an irritant.

From the tiniest seed pearls clustered like bunches of miniature grapes, to the giant La Peregrina once owned by Elizabeth Taylor, pearls can vary hugely in size, shape and hue, but often appear as perfectly symmetrical, luminous white orbs. Once the preserve of the unfeasibly wealthy, when Japanese pearl farmer Kokichi Mikimoto worked out how to culture them in 1893, they became more attainable. Over the ensuing decades, they were associated with twinsets and sensible shoes, and are still linked to purity and innocence, weddings and wisdom.

Luckily for June babies today, though, jewellery designers are now choosing to push pearls to their limits. Whether it’s Melanie Georgacopoulos splicing, dicing and pinching them into extraordinary shapes, or Sophie Bille Brahe clustering them sensually together like the froth of a wave, June’s birthstone is no longer a byword for boring.

Taller Marmo is a rare shining example of having a great idea and actually acting on it. Founders Riccardo Audisio and Yago Goicoechea dropped out of school in 2012 after cooking up a collection of extravagant kaftans that would have made Elizabeth Taylor jealous while together in a pizza parlour. Aged just 20, they had no business nous, zero work experience at a fashion house and two unfinished degrees behind them. But what they lacked in expertise, Riccardo and Yago made up for in sheer determination – and an unwavering commitment to all things fabulous.

The pair’s decadent tasselled and feathered dresses have struck a chord with fashion’s current maximalist mood, but the fluid silhouettes and exotic shades did not always translate. Facing an economic crisis in Italy, Riccardo and Yago were forced to up sticks and sell their first samples in Dubai, alongside other modest looks in an abaya store. No matter, Taller Marmo has universal appeal, they decided. “We think about how the 20-year-old and 60-year-old will experience the same dress,” they share. “How a modest dresser or someone who wants to dress sexy will style the same minidress anywhere from Riyadh to Los Angeles.” The International Woolmark Prize representing the Middle East came calling, and they moved back to Italy to be closer to Taller Marmo’s manufacturers and satisfy demand.

After hours of getting ready in their gilded glamour best, making their way through New York City traffic, and navigating the cacophonous red carpet, celebrities, fashion designers, and other notables finally entered the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Great Hall for the 2022 Met Gala. Greeting them? The artistic lenses of Hunter Abrams and Flo Ngala.

The two photographers roamed the museum on fashion’s biggest night, capturing everyone from Lizzo to Tom Ford to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Hellos – and moments of mutual outfit appreciation – were had in front of the Statue of Liberty centrepiece as an orchestra played on. Kim Kardashian posed with Pete Davidson wearing Marilyn Monroe’s iconic “Happy Birthday Mr President” dress. Amy Schumer kept her sunglasses on during cocktail hour at the Charles Engelhard Court in the American Wing. Gigi Hadid caught up with friends Hailey Bieber and Naomi Campbell. Kendall Jenner manoeuvred her massive Prada train, and Alton Mason twirled his cape through the museum’s galleries.

Charli XCX has been busy the past few months. Since early March, the singer has been touring North America in honour of her latest album, Crash. “It’s been so joyous to see the music come to life after such a long time, the shows have been more wild than ever,” Charli tells Vogue. “I also learned choreo for this tour. I’m on a whole new vibe.” In addition to performing for her fans, the singer admits one of the best parts about touring has been exploring various new cities, and making pit stops at different vintage shops along the way. “I went a little bit crazy in Austin, because they have such good vintage,” says Charli. “I bought loads of oversized slogan shirts.”

The pop star’s new project, then, couldn’t be a better fit. Charli has teamed up with the resale site Depop on a new curated shop, which features over 50 items from her own closet (prices range from $15 for a Cider heart-print slip dress to $5,000 for a pair of bedazzled Agent Provocateur pants). “For me, Depop is kind of a dream, because you have this global community of sellers from all over the world – and a huge pool of different styles that’s really easy to explore,” she says.

Her Depop e-store, found at , will include shoppable pieces worn in her recent “Used To Know Me” music video, including her pink cheerleader outfit and a glitzy Mugler bodysuit. “I was really sad to let it go,” Charli says of the custom Mugler. “But someone else is going to bring it to life again in a completely new way.” There’s also a huge array of sunglasses (she’s a big collector), and even some viral items too, like a silver spandex sports bra she wore back in 2018. “There’s this viral video of me singing my song ‘Girls Night Out’ in it, while jumping up and down,” says Charli. “Because of the material, it made my b***s look absolutely insane.”

Hailey Bieber has bought heavily in to the biker jacket trend, but while other It-girls (Alexa, Pernille) have bet big on Prada’s vintage-inspired leathers, the Cali model has found a second-hand seller in Stockholm that sources excellent motorcycle looks for a snip of those prices. Lovisa Källström is the woman behind this excellent outerwear operation.

The former interiors marketing manager and magazine editor founded Worn when her sideline selling pre-loved clothing turned into a lucrative passion more thrilling than her day-to-day. Källström’s edge in a crowded vintage sphere is that she does not discriminate between brands. She sells high-quality second-hand clothes that deserve a longer lifespan no matter where they are from. Labels might read “Levi’s”, “Vero Moda”, “Saki, “Petroff” or “Hollies”, but on Wornvintage.se, each jacket is given equal billing and displayed simply as “retro” or “vintage”. Customers judge the unisex pieces, retailing for roughly £100, based purely on their looks before delving deeper to find the brand info.

“There are lots of stunning clothes by small designers that can be just as astonishing as an old Gucci jacket,” says Källström, who follows the old adage that “one man’s trash is another person’s treasure”. “When I started buying and selling pre-loved clothes I found a lot of stunning pieces, but the visual presentation was terrible.”

Building an excellent capsule wardrobe takes time and patience. Looking at what you already have – and what you might be missing – is a good place to start (refer to Vogue’s step-by-step wardrobe detox guide for tips).

However, there are certain timeless staples that the Vogue editors swear by. Let’s start with the basics: white T-shirts are team Vogue’s wardrobe MVP. Find a style that fits just right, focusing on the hemline and sleeve lengths. Excellent shirting, too, is a necessity. Pair with trousers, a blazer and loafers – other essentials – for smart occasions, or jeans and white trainers for more casual moments.

Outerwear-wise, you can’t go wrong with a trench coat. Twists on the classic silhouette from Kassl Editions and Raey are worth the investment. As for bags? Opt for a sturdy tote that’s roomy enough to hold everything you could possibly need.

Here, Vogue’s guide to the clothing essentials that will serve you all year round.

The skinny scarf was always more of a fashion statement than a practical wardrobe essential. A cult favourite amongst stars of the mid-’00s, the much-maligned piece was once synonymous with the boho style championed by the likes of Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, and Alexa Chung. Fast forward to now, and Katie Holmes has brought the look back onto the red carpet.

At the screening of her new movie As They Made Us in New York City, the 43-year-old actor wore a pared-back ensemble in her signature girl-next-door style, but with an added bohemian twist. The look consisted of high-waisted bootcut jeans in faded blue, a red and white seersucker striped shirt that was unbuttoned and loosely French-tucked, as well as a pair of black leather square-toe loafers with contrast stitching by Acne Studios. To top it all off nicely, Holmes accessorised with a slim beaded silk scarf.

The ever popular Y2K aesthetic might have already had its moment in recent years care of cropped T-shirts, camo maxi-skirts, and butterfly motifs. But according to Katie, the divisive skinny scarf is here to stay.

Saint Laurent ambassador Zoë Kravitz was naturally first in line to bag the brand’s new maxi tote. Say hello to the Icare: a plush quilted jumbo style with, according to the label, “a fierce identity”.

To premiere the new cabas, Kravitz staged a street-style shoot to showcase the hands-free ease the Icare allows for. With one hand glued to her iPhone and the other clutching a green juice, Zoë, with her hair scraped back into a bun, looks like she could be fresh out of Pilates and en route to a casting call. The capaciousness and sleek outer of the Icare means you’d never know her leggings were scrunched up inside.

The Icare’s name refers to the bold monogram positioned in the centre of the nappa lambskin leather. Designed as a piece of high jewellery to wear over your arm, the logo “shines like the sun that burned Icarus’s wings”, according to creative director Anthony Vaccarello’s team. Toeing the line between polished and relaxed, Saint Laurent maintains the new tote will be the company’s latest collector’s piece when it launches in April – on a par with its successful Le 5 à 7 shoulder bag, which has become the chic receptacle of models’ cards and keys when on their own Forma Pilates runs.

The house-your-life-in-it holdall is a natural fit for Kravitz, a die-hard New Yorker who can’t deal with itty-bitty bags day to day. She usually has The Row’s Ascot bag in the crook of her elbow or the brand’s Bindle shopper on her shoulder, and never discriminates against mesh shoppers as long as they do the job.

So while the Icare claims to be “a daring signature for a bold attitude”, Zoë’s low-key styling means it will soon be an everyday essential for those who deal in designer bags. Think of it as being in the same family as Dior’s book tote. Or Bottega’s maxi Jodie. In other words, great company to be in.

Victoria Beckham naturally had a hand in the luxury fashion that played out at her son Brooklyn’s wedding to Nicola Peltz, but when it came to her own look, it was a VB special all the way.

The queen of polished womenswear that hits a sweet spot between cheeky and classic created a dress that looked effortlessly elegant without blending into the background. An evolution of her classic slips (she wore another iteration to British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful’s wedding) realised at couture level, the fabric was inspired by the reflection of the moonlight on the ocean at night. Developed exclusively by one of Beckham’s favourite Como mills, the effect is metallic, almost liquid like, and completely head-turning. Three French laces cut meticulously by hand and embroidered onto the shimmering fabric only added to the arresting effect.

There’s an element of nostalgia at play in the bespoke piece, which Beckham’s design director Lara Barrio helped her to finesse for the big day in Miami. The slinky, yet sophisticated slip echoes the glamour of ’40s Hollywood, but with the sassiness of the ’70s club scene. Think shades of Studio 54, but with all the sleekness of brand Beckham.

On the arm of her husband David, who was decked out in Dior by the family’s close friend Kim Jones, the couple looked like proud parents with a high-fashion spin. Wedding style is tricky territory to navigate, but when their life is so entwined with the industry, there was no chance of the Beckhams not knocking it out of the park for their son’s celebrations. Keep your eyes peeled on Victoriabeckham.com; the designer’s second dress – a black pre-fall number – will be available to buy in June.
