Knossos Palace (Crete) At the beginning of the last century the Knossos Palace was excavated and partially reconstructed, which occupies a leading position in the ranking of "The best sights in Greece". Today it is one of the most visited places of Crete, a favorite of many tourists.
Historians consider the palace of Knossos the center of the Minoan civilization, which in its heyday was the most developed state in the world. The palace consisted of more than 1300 rooms - it's not difficult to guess that it occupied a huge area. In its chambers, at least 12,000 people could easily be accommodated. If legends are to be believed, Knossos was at that time the property of King Minos, whom many know from the myths of the famous Labyrinth and its eternal inhabitant Minotaur.
