El actual Reglamento de Vehículos Históricos, que se aprobó por primera vez en 1995, será reemplazado en 2023 por un nuevo reglamento más acorde a las normativas europeas actuales. La Dirección General de Tráfico (DGT), el Ministerio de Industria, las Comunidades Autónomas y la Federación Española de Vehículos Antiguos (FEVA) han sido los encargados de elaborar esta nueva normativa que, como el propio texto indica, tiene el objetivo de establecer "las normas especiales que posibiliten la circulación de vehículos históricos y fomenten la conservación y restauración de los que integran el patrimonio histórico automovilístico".

En palabras de Francisco de las Alas-Pumariño, jefe de la unidad de Normativa de la DGT: "Hacía falta un procedimiento abreviado para todos los vehículos que quieren ser históricos, estén matriculados en España o sean importados. Este nuevo reglamento será aprobado en el verano de 2023 y estará en vigor en otoño". Por su parte, José Alfredo Álvarez, presidente de la asociación Veteran Car Club, explica que "los tramites actuales son complicados y caros, muy engorrosos. Necesitamos un reglamento que haga los trámites más sencillos. Además, hay que unificar criterios con las ITV para que todas las estaciones tengan el mismo baremo".

Amidst the onslaught of new car models every month, have you wondered about the lineage of these cars? The famous ones we read in books in our childhood and the comparatively newer ones that have acquired fame more recently? With a large range of brands under their umbrella, it is difficult to remember all the brands under each manufacturer’s patronage, especially ones which are exclusive to certain countries or have been manufactured certain years. For example, Lamborghini is owned by Audi which is controlled by Volkswagen. And Vauxhall as well as Opel are owned by GM for years now, under the same company as Peugeot and Citroen.

Aston Martin – Belonging to a British manufacturer, this luxury sports car company was founded in 1913 and started by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford. Over time it became an established car brand in racing fraternity. Aston Martin flourished during the period of David Brown, an English industrialist, who took the rein from 1947 to 1972. Accompanying luxury touring cars in 1950s and 1960s, it became famous with the movie Gold Finger in 1964. After facing failure in 1970, it came under Ford Motors from 1994 to 2007. Signing with Daimier AG to provide new Merc-Benz power plants for next-gen variants is another feather in its cap. From the origin to the present, it has set its standard and been an irresistible attraction.
