But sadly, it seems that Sacks’ dream may not become a reality, with Warner Bros. issuing a DCMA copyright takedown request to cancel the project.

Kickstarter CEO and co-founder Perry Chen has resigned from his role as chief executive of the company. Chen wrote in a blog post today that he will remain chairman of Kickstarter’s board, and that he intends to focus on “high-level and long-term company needs” from that position.

Chen has been with Kickstarter since its beginning, serving as CEO for its first five years. He stepped down for the first time in 2014, leaving the role to co-founder Yancey Strickler, and returned in 2017 after Strickler decided to leave the company. At the time, Kickstarter had planned to look at outside candidates, according to Buzzfeed News, but Chen quietly stepped in and assumed the role once again.

A new bag-squeezing device company is on Kickstarter, promising to save people hundreds on household cleaning products like hand soap and dishwasher detergent. It’s called Cleanyst, and press coverage of the device so far has breathlessly repeated the company’s line that it’s the “SodaStream for cleaning products.” On their Kickstarter page, Cleanyst says its device “delivers the convenience of a Keurig or Nespresso appliance” and “the environmental benefits of a SodaStream.” Wow.

Cassette tapes are having a minor comeback: sales were (somehow) up almost 19 percent year over year in 2018, and where there’s a market, there’s a Kickstarter project looking to cash in. Case in point: the Ninm It’s OK. It’s sort of what a portable cassette player like an original Walkman would be if Sony continued to develop tape-based tech in 2019.

The Switch’s ability to dock and connect to a TV is still one of its most iconic features (it’s right there in the name), but in the two-plus years since the console was released, there haven’t been reliable third-party dock options out there. If you want to connect a Switch to a TV, you’re basically stuck with Nintendo’s dock or nothing.

Resurrection stars Rebecca Hall as a woman whose well-ordered life is upended after a former partner (Tim Roth) unexpectedly appears. In some ways, it’s a standard thriller, with pressure steadily mounting on Hall’s character until it’s almost too much to take. But what has stuck with me all this time is just how messed up the movie actually gets, particularly its horrifying finale. It’s the kind of thing that sticks with you long after the credits roll. It helps that Hall and Roth both turn in incredible performances, elevating what could’ve been a much more forgettable film.

Based on a 2010 New Yorker short story by George Saunders, the film is directed by Joseph Kosinski (best-known for Tron: Legacy, Oblivion, and that Gears of War commercial) and also stars Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett as two inmates who form a connection in the aforementioned prison. If the first trailer is anything to go by, it looks like the movie will be something of a dark comedy, jumping back and forth between goofy and grim. Hemsworth looks particularly manic, even joking about how beautiful he is. Plus, there’s lots of blood to clean up.

Netflix’s closed captioning, subtitles for deaf and hard of hearing (SDH), and audio descriptions (AD) are all powerful tools designed to help make films and television shows more accessible to people with disabilities. But those kinds of features have also become integral parts of how people from all walks of life consume the streaming platform’s content, and Netflix is planning to give its subscribers more of what they want.

In celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Netflix is gearing up to expand its accessibility features across the globe and launching a new collection highlighting stories focused on people living with disabilities. Celebrating Disability with Dimension will function much like the platform’s other special collections that pull from Netflix’s catalog of existing content with the goal of promoting their visibility as users browse the service. In addition to the new collection, Netflix is also beefing up its AD and SDH offerings in more languages, including Spanish, French, Korean, and Portuguese.

More and more Netflix users are using its accessibility features.

We’re still a few weeks out from Netflix’s second annual Geeked Week event, which kicks off on June 6th through the 10th. The company already did some teasing via a trailer earlier this month, but a new poster and blog post give some more detail on what will be on display over the five-day-long event. Netflix says more than 60 projects will be featured.

Each day will have a specific theme, starting with a Monday centered around various TV shows. Expect to get early looks at the live-action adaptations of The Sandman and One Piece, as well as news about series like The Umbrella Academy (which is speeding towards its third season), a new take on Resident Evil, as well as ongoing favorites like All of Us Are Dead, Locke and Key, and Sweet Tooth.

Day two is focused on movies. That includes upcoming blockbusters like The Gray Man and Spiderhead, the Paul Feig-directed fairy tale The School for Good and Evil, animated feature The Sea Beast, military thriller Interceptor, and the animated fantasy Wendell and Wild from Henry Selick and Jordan Peele.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) II: The Sith Lords is heading to the Nintendo Switch on June 8th, as announced at this year's Star Wars Celebration event. The sequel to the classic KOTOR RPG is supposed to feature some performance enhancements and resolution upgrades, as well as a Restored Content DLC set to arrive post-launch.

Out of all the modern Pinocchio projects in the pipeline, Disney’s upcoming feature from director Robert Zemeckis has always been one of the odds-on favorites to capture people’s imaginations if only because of the studio’s history with the iconic fairytale. While Pinocchio’s first teaser trailer only gives you the slightest taste of what Zemeckis has in store for audiences, it’s a strong sign that the movie will be able to recreate at least some of the original animated feature’s magic.

Pinocchio’s first trailer only features a small look at the titular living toy (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) as his puppet-making father Geppetto (Tom Hanks) first carves him from a block of wood. What you do see, though, is the time, attention, and love Geppetto puts into crafting his handmade son and how his fateful wish upon a star for the puppet to be brought to life is granted by the benevolent Blue Fairy (Cynthia Erivo).
