Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Bavaria, Germany
Translating as the 'red fortress above the Tauber river', the ancient, red-roofed village of Rothenburg ob der Tauber leaves a lasting impression. Set along southern Germany’s Romantic Road, it's one of many medieval storybook settlements with defensive towers, narrow timber-clad houses and cobbled streets.

If wandering around the picturesque place isn't enough, there's plenty to entertain visitors, including museums, gardens, enticing shops and buzzy cafés.

Angel Falls, Bolívar State, Venezuela
Located in the Guiana Highlands of Venezuela, this mammoth waterfall is dramatic and arresting in equal measure. The drop is more than 3,199 feet (975m), making Angel Falls the world's highest uninterrupted waterfall.

It cascades over the edge of the Auyán-Tepuí mountain, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Majestic and dominating, this natural wonder highlights the immense power of Mother Nature.

Mount McKinley, Alaska, USA
High on many travellers' wish lists, Mount McKinley, formerly known as Denali, is North America’s tallest peak, rising a dizzying 20,310 feet (6,190m) above sea level. Located in south-central Alaska, the native Koyukon Athabascan people originally named it Denali, which translates as The Great One.

However, in 1896, a gold prospector decided to name the mountain after then-presidential nominee William McKinley, spurring a naming dispute which lasted more than a century. After a 40-year stint of officially being called Mount McKinley, the name was changed back to Denali in 2015. Again, in 2025, the Trump administration issued an executive order to revert the name back to McKinley.

Caucasus Mountains, Georgia
For adventurous travelers who have grown tired of the crowded mountain trails in the Alps or or reservation-only vineyards in France, Georgia has everything you need and then some (yes, including wine). The best way to witness the diversity of the country’s terrain is on its hiking trails, which wind through the Greater Caucasus mountain range dividing Europe from Asia.

Zakynthos, Greece
Far less crowded than sister islands Mykonos and Santorini, Zakynthos has some of the most beautiful beaches in the Greek Isles—namely, Navagio Beach. Sheltered by cliffs, Navagio is only accessible by boat, and draws its name (“Shipwreck”) from a freighter that ran aground, was abandoned, and still rests in the beach’s white sands today.
