Little Rock is located at the geographic center of the state of Arkansas.

Designing Women was filmed in Little Rock. This television series about four southern designers was also produced by a native of Little Rock. Harry Thomason produced the hit television series and he filmed the show at 1321 Scott Street. As each episode begins the exterior of this stately old mansion is shown.

The brown and serve roll was invented in Little Rock in the 30s by Meyer’s Bakery.

Little Rock is the place that gave America the “cheese dog” in 1956. This hot dog was created at the Finkbeiner Meat Packing Company and is a frankfurter with cheese inserted into its middle.

From the 1850s until his death, Kekule was one of the most prominent chemists in Europe, especially in theoretical chemistry.

Kekulé never used his first given name; he was known throughout his life as August Kekulé.

The largest university and the oldest in the North and South American continents is the Universidad de Chile. It has been around since 1622.

Though the city is free of rabies, as of 2014, an estimated 180,000 stray dogs wander the city. Approximately 80,000 more which have homes are allowed to roam the streets as they please.

Santiago has a problem with thermal inversion during the winter months, so there are high levels of smog and air pollution within the Central Valley.
