Vaadhoo Island
Sea of Stars, as this place is often called, is part of the Raa Atoll of the Maldives archipelago. It is not nature and beaches that make the resort famous, but the presence of bioluminescent phytoplankton. At night, myriads of tiny organisms shine in the water with delicate neon lights, creating the illusion of a shimmering starry sky. This phenomenon has earned Vaadhoo the title of the most romantic resort in the world. The glow happens only in October and November. The rest of the time, the island is no different from its neighbors. It offers the same beaches with white sand, turquoise, crystal-clear water, and coral reefs near the shore, creating a paradise for snorkeling and diving.
