Founded in the 12th century, the historic district of Warsaw. It is a popular place among tourists. After World War II, most of the Old Town's buildings were rebuilt from photographs and surviving blueprints, for which it has been added to the UNESCO list. The oldest surviving buildings are the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and the Barbican of Warsaw. The center of the old city is the Market Square. The development of the rock salt deposit in Wieliczka has been going on for seven centuries. During that time, 7 levels of underground corridors with a total length of 200 km have appeared in it. The construction of the cathedral was completed in 1397. Basilica of three naves is built in Gothic style. One tower of the church is topped by a pointed spire, the second by a helmet. The tallest tower is 82 meters. The interior of the church is decorated with stained glass windows and works of sculpture and painting. The main decoration is the altar, which is 13 meters high. It is carved from linden and combines Renaissance and Gothic elements.
