Walking out to the car this morning I noticed a bit of pink through the tree branches, so I headed to the nearest "spot" which is a bridge over the Little Ossipee River about a mile from home. It was raining lightly and the rain diffused the light, smoothing out the clouds. I figured this was going to be the main show, so once the color faded I got back in the car and drove towards work in Portland. Around Hollis the eastern sky began to turn a bright yellow and with the rain falling I began looking to the west for a rainbow, and sure enough there was one! I pulled into the Buxton Hannaford parking lot and the rainbow, which was now a double, was vibrant and full. I didn't pull out the camera (because, "parking lot") but now wish I had - I've seen a lot of really nice photos of the rainbow from the Portland area.
