What's copywriting for?
Copywriting is the process of writing advertising promotional materials. Copywriters help create billboards, brochures, catalogues, jingle lyrics, magazine and newspaper advertisements, sales letters and other direct mail, scripts for television or radio commercials, taglines, white papers, social media posts, and other marketing communications. This text is known as “copy.” ... That's why a copywriter is often referred to as “a salesman in print.”
Where can I work?
Many copywriters are employed in advertising agencies, public relations firms, copywriting agencies, or are self-employed as freelancers.
Freelancers work as independent contractors, writing for a variety of clients. They may work at a client's office, a coworking office, a coffeehouse, or from home.
Skills required to be a copywriter
1. English language skills - grammar, punctuation & spellings
2. An eye for details - you should be able to identify errors in your script.
3. A wide range of vocabulary
4. Curiosity - learn more about what you're selling; features, benefits, unique selling points.
5. The ability to see different points of view. Put yourself in the shoes of the buyer.
6. Research skill - ask clients right questions to learn more their needs.
7. Great listening skills - right actions will come from right understanding.
Conclusion
Worse enough, most of these skills are not learned from school. You can only learn them at the work place or by a mentor while practicing.
