I've read and listened to numerous perspectives on AI, and most express concerns about AI overtaking humanity. As a mathematician (statistician and data scientist), software developer, and AI enthusiast, I'd like to offer a unique viewpoint.
The engine powering AI (machine learning, deep learning, and neural networks) is mathematics, specifically statistics. In essence, AI is an application of statistical concepts. Those fearful of AI should focus on statistics instead.
AI is a tangible product of mathematics, heavily relying on linear algebra and calculus in many machine learning models. My perspective may evolve as I delve deeper into AI, but currently, this is my understanding.
