Listening in on Radio One FM90 “Talk Back Show” yesterday, a tax expert from EY Ronald Amega explained a few things that caught the public’s attention in regard to the forthcoming National Budget reading. It was interesting to learn that:
a) While there has been an increase in excise duty for at least UgX100 on fuel in the previous years, this year there will not be an increase
b) Last year, there was an increase on rental tax upto 30%, this year individual landlords will be charged a flat rate of 12% off their rental income.
c) The Government has also exempted oxygen cylinders from VAT
