The struggle for freedom and democracy betrayed is good read that all young people should read especially the young girls. Miria Matembe's rise from obscurity to prominence onto the Ugandan political scene is inspirational. Her character as a resilient and God fearing leader is something to borrow a leaf from. Her bitter sweet relationship with the ruling government as narrated in her memoirs also gives insight on the historical roots of the government's short comings. Overall it is a well written book that I feel might have been underrated by the reading community. Pop in at Sankara Pan African library and have an experience of Pan African Liberation literature as you enjoy a cup of coffee. I highly recommend this beautiful hideout.

The context and setting of this image are well founded. Its just a boy scout in a school somewhere in Uganda, hoisting the American flag, honouring and welcoming an American visitor who had come to see the school. The amount of feel good and happiness hormones secreted when a village child rides his father's bicycle and that of a town child jumping on a bouncing castle might be the same, but the difference is this irrational thing called "class" that intends to draw boundaries that define activities for the rich and the poor. It is sad how such an ideology runs most of our lives, trying so hard to achieve what we already have. Such a battle against self can never be won. 🇺🇬

Women are strong, but Lucy is in another league all together. With so many mouths to feed, she cultivates the land, manually processes food on a grinding stone and prepares the food for her family. She treated us with the highest level of hospitality and shared with us the little she had when we visited and spent a night her home.

LITTLE BROTHER. God had an option of dropping each one of us from the sky like rain drops, he could have grown us in pods just like beans and peas, but he decided we be born out of families. The essence and relevance of family is for us to learn how to love one another without condition. Love that simply has no reason, no explanation, it is just there always. 🇺🇬

There is something special and divine about hands. Hands are the ex*****on machines of our brains. Think of anything visible or perceptible, the hands will produce. Good music when instruments are played, good food when fields are cultivated, beautiful works of art, name it. It is all in the palm of our hands.

Women give birth to and raise nations, and what do nations give back to women? Marginalization? Inequality? Domestic violence? Poor health facilities? No education? Just asking...
