Ciao Bella! Take a 👀 at this beautiful pair!
👉🏾Romeo & Juliet Crêpe and an Affogato.

Our affogato, or more fully known as affogato al caffè, is a traditional Italian dessert composed of a scoop of Fabbri gelato topped with a shot of Lavazza espresso. It pairs perfectly with the strawberries and bananas of the Romeo & Juliet.

Marion Hungry Mothers unveil plans and branding for 2025 season!

New collegiate wood bat team announces Marion, Va.'s Hurricane Stadium as its home

MARION, Virginia (March 20, 2025) -- Marion's new summer collegiate baseball team will play under a moniker that will be familiar to locals, albeit a bit unusual for a baseball team name.
They’ll be known as the Marion Hungry Mothers.

The new team is excited to introduce their branding package, as they prepare for their inaugural 2025 season to begin on Memorial Day, May 26. The team’s primary colors are red, black and white with the team mascot, an awakened and angry-looking mama bear, figuring prominently in the branding.

The Hungry Mothers, owned by Marion Baseball Club LLC, will compete against some of the best summer collegiate wood bat teams in the Southeast, with marquee matchups set with the Boone Bigfoots of the Coastal Plain League; new rival teams, the Carolina Disco Turkeys and Uwharrie Wampus Cats, established clubs out of North Carolina; and arguably the top two Southern Collegiate Baseball League programs, the Mooresville Spinners and Queen City Corndogs; along with several other teams. They''ll play close to 40 games overall this season, winding down in late July, and will be playing all 20 of their home games at Marion's Hurricane Stadium, a historic former minor league stadium that currently also sees high school baseball and football action during the school year. The team’s full schedule, along with the team’s new website and ticket platform will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

The Hungry Mothers bring back high-level baseball to a town and region that is a grizzled veteran with the sport. Affiliated baseball got its start at Hurricane Stadium in 1955 with the Welch/Marion A’s and the Marion Mets more famously played at the stadium from 1965-76 with a roster in 1965 that included future MLB Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan.

All home games this summer will include on-field entertainment between innings, and a concession stand that will be operated and will benefit the Marion Senior High Band Boosters.

The name comes from nearby Hungry Mother State Park and the famous "hungry mother" legend of the region. The twist is the mascot, which is a mama bear wearing bedtime attire.

"The idea is that baseball in a very real sense is coming out of hibernation this summer in Marion," said Hungry Mothers managing partner Terry Hindle. "We wanted something that would be fierce and cool but would also be fun for kids to cheer on. Nothing says fun like having a mama bear in a night gown and night cap getting ready to slug the stuffing out of a baseball."
The Hungry Mothers are all about having a good time with friends and family in a safe, welcoming environment featuring competitive wood bat baseball. Their roster will include college players, honing their skills over the summer months. And much of the roster will include players with connections to Southwest Virginia and the surrounding region. Tickets will start at $7 and will go on sale prior to the season. Season ticket options will also be available. With the launch, the team has launched its initial merchandise offerings online at hungrymothers.myshopify.com.

As they prepare for the upcoming season, the team will be looking for host families, interns and gameday employees. For inquiries, contact managing partner Terry Hindle at [email protected].

Play Ball!!!

The Marion Mets were a minor league baseball team based in Marion, Virginia that played in the Appalachian League from 1965 to 1976. Now, almost 50 years later, Marion will again be home to a Baseball Club!

The new team is owned by the same folks as the Winston Salem Disco Turkeys https://www.discoturkeys.com/home

and the Uwharrie Wampus Cats https://www.wampuscatsbaseball.com/

The new Marion team name, logo, and website will be unveiled in a press conference on March 20.

I am securing partnerships now. Let me know if your business is interested. There are limited quantities at each sponsorship level.
