Weekend plans do not have to be fancy to be good.

Start with Kokomo's 50's Diner for burgers, shakes, Elvis decor, and that fun 50s diner feel. Swing through Jesus Cares of McNairy County for secondhand finds and thrifty goodness. Then check out the Electric Penguin Arcade grand opening tomorrow at 3 for pinball, retro arcade games, and something new to do in Adamsville. Wrap it up with supper at Charlie’s New York Style Pizza for some of the best slices around.

Small-town weekends hit different when there is good food, local shopping, and something new to check out.

What is on your weekend list?

We are grateful for everyone who came out to celebrate. Growth is built through relationships, community, and showing up.

For this week’s Women-Owned Wednesday we’re spotlighting Mammy's Soap Co, with locations in Selmer and Adamsville, a business built by a woman doing meaningful work and making an impact right where she is planted. It is the kind of local business that reminds you small-town shops can carry a whole lot of heart, creativity, and purpose.

We also want to give a nod to artist Lisa Engle, another woman using her gifts to add beauty and connection to the community.

Women building, creating, serving, and showing up locally deserve the spotlight.

Come check out both Mammy’s Soap Co and Lisa’s gallery space at The Shops at Brick & Mortar.

When you are bouncing between meetings, errands, and trying to answer one more email, a good stop matters.

My pick this week is The Bean Scene in Adamsville, TN. Good coffee, good atmosphere, and a solid place to get a little work done without losing your mind.

All business all day, running on fumes, and still somehow making the next thing happen. Of course, I’m also stopping by the Pig ( Stepherson's Piggly Wiggly) on the way home for slow-down snacks, because balance has to come from somewhere.

Where is your favorite place to work on the go?

This week we’re highlighting Adamsville, TN and why it deserves a day trip, a lunch stop, or a little extra attention.

Start with Hope’s Place Place for hot country breakfasts or plate lunches that feel like somebody knew you were hungry and took it personally. Add in The University of Tennessee at Martin C**n Creek Science Center for a big dose of history and education, and keep The Marty in mind if you need an event venue with local charm. Check out Hillbillys Wing Shack for their saucy namesake and plenty of small-town flavor.

Adamsville may be small, but it has plenty worth noticing.

What nearby town do you think is underrated?

Looking for weekend plans around Memphis? You have options.

Start with Brother Junipers for handcrafted brunch and that community feel that people love. Visit the Memphis Zoo, still one of the greatest zoos in the U.S., or head to the Metal Museum for truly one-of-a-kind art and craftsmanship.

You can also catch a free concert at Overton Park Shell, with Steph Strings on Friday, June 12 and Mustang McGee on Saturday, June 13. Take a walk down Beale Street - Memphis and visit the Withers Collection Museum & Gallery while you’re there.

Memphis does not run short on weekend personality any day of the week.
