Today, we remember the lives lost, the families affected, and first responders and everyday citizens who stepped forward to help on 9/11.

We also remember the unity that followed when neighbors came together to support one another.

We won’t forget.

Before your inbox was full of promotions, your actual mailbox was doing the heavy lifting. Catalogs, postcards, coupons, and sales flyers put businesses directly into customers’ hands.

The strategy was pretty familiar: grab attention, make a good offer, and give people an easy next step. Today we have email, digital ads, and online offers, but those basics still work.

And yes, circling everything you wanted in the Christmas catalog absolutely counts as audience engagement.

Does finding basic information about your business feel like a scavenger hunt? Worse, an escape room?

Your customers should be able to quickly find your phone number, hours, location, and a clear way to contact you. If they have to hunt for it, there’s a good chance they’ll move on.

If you have been waiting on fall festivals, markets, and events, September is finally here.

This weekend, head to Historic Downtown Corinth for the Green Market at the Corinth Depot on Saturday, September 5. Local artisans, handmade goods, food trucks, and a good excuse to wander around Corinth sounds like a pretty decent Saturday to us.

Staying closer to Jackson? Jackson's Hub City Flea Market runs September 4-6 at the Jackson Fairgrounds, and Smooth Jazz Progression takes the stage at the Jackson's AMP at the Market Friday night for a free concert.

And go ahead and mark September 18-19 on your calendar. Discovery Park of America in Union City is bringing back its Celebration of Native American Culture, with storytelling, Native American artisans, demonstrations, educational experiences, food, and more.

Fall calendar season has officially begun. What September event are you looking forward to?

Before businesses worried about views, shares, and algorithms, they had another way to make sure you remembered them.

The radio jingle.

A catchy tune, a business name, maybe a phone number repeated just enough times, and suddenly an entire town could sing your advertisement without even trying.

Some of those jingles worked so well that people can still remember every word decades later.

That is a pretty good marketing lesson. You do not always need a complicated message. You need something recognizable, consistent, and easy to remember.

The platforms have changed, but repetition still builds recognition. And when it is finally time to choose a business, being the name someone remembers matters.

Now we want to test your memory. What local radio jingle or commercial can you still recite?

This week, we’re putting the spotlight on Jennifer Knolton, Realtor Coldwell Banker Southern Realty 731.668.1777, serving buyers and sellers throughout West Tennessee.

Jennifer took a risk stepping into a business that was relatively unfamiliar to her and found a place where she could thrive. In her words, real estate has allowed her to “grow, adapt, and make a difference.” And that last part matters.

Jennifer knows buying or selling property can be one of the biggest decisions someone makes. She takes the time to understand what each client needs, help them navigate the process, and plan their next move with confidence. For Jennifer, “It’s not just about closing the deal, but making sure they feel good about it.”

That kind of care is how you build more than a career. You build a reputation.

Good marketing is a lot like a good game of pool. You need to know what you’re aiming for before you take the shot.

There are a hundred marketing things you could be doing. That doesn’t mean they all make sense for your business. That’s where Kemp Marketing coaching comes in.

We help small business owners figure out where they are, where they want to go, and which moves will actually help get them there. Then we turn that into practical steps you can follow.

No cookie-cutter plan. No adding 47 more things to your plate. The goal is to give you the knowledge, tools, and confidence to make better marketing decisions on your own.

Because sometimes you don’t need more shots. You just need to know where to aim.
