Excited to share a major milestone—I recently walked at The University of New Mexico as a Strategic Communication major! Earlier this year, I was invited to join Phi Kappa Phi, the same honor society both my mom and husband are part of as UNM alumni. Having our son in the audience made it all come full circle. I still remember cheering for my mom at her graduation years ago—so standing there in my own cap and gown felt incredibly full of meaning.
School can be challenging for anyone, but starting in my late 20s for my associate’s and in my 30s for my bachelor’s—while parenting and working—was its own kind of journey. I had to wait to even begin college because, as a ward of the state with no cosigner, I didn’t have access to student loans. Eventually, I earned my associate’s at CNM, had my son, and returned to complete my bachelor’s. The path wasn’t traditional, but it was mine—and it gave me perspective, purpose, and a deeper appreciation for what this moment really represents.
Being able to shift my economic situation took resilience, perseverance—and honestly, a little luck. I’m so grateful for the people who believed in me and the opportunities that helped me get here. That’s a big part of why I care so much about supporting small businesses. Financial independence can be life-changing. It creates room to breathe, to grow, to live more freely.
Through branding, design, and strategy, I get to help people bring their ideas to life—and that’s how I try to pay it forward. Helping others build businesses that reflect who they are is one of the most powerful ways I know to create meaningful, lasting change. When we invest in each other’s creativity, stories, and potential, we build something bigger than ourselves. That’s the work I’m here for—and I can’t wait to keep going.
