On March 13, USPS issues these stamps commemorating Lowriders. We're honored to have designed these stamps presenting an important part of Chicano culture. Full of artistry, skill, pride, and community, Lowrider culture now extends around the world! We hope you like them!

Today was the first day of issue for a stamp we designed commemorating Bruce Lee. Lee was a multi-talented actor, martial artist, teacher, and philosopher. He transformed the "action film" format worldwide and through his work communicated Asian Americans could be successful lead actors and positive role models. Have you ever seen a Bruce Lee film?

Over twenty years ago, Studio A designed our first catalogue for the National Gallery of Art. Today, we’re excited about our latest project, published in November, "Legacy: The Corcoran Collection and the National Gallery of Art." The catalogue contains brief essays discussing the history of the Corcoran Gallery of Art, along with plates presenting highlights of the Corcoran collection assumed by the National Gallery of Art in 2014. As three of our designers had close associations with the Corcoran, this was a special project for Studio A.

One of the exciting projects we get to work on, are US postage stamps (see previous post on a recent collaboration with Chris Ware). It's nice to read in The NY Times that others appreciate the part utility/part artistry aspect our work.

These tiny rectangles hold memory and mystery, and they will travel where you will not.

What a playful, enlightening, and inspiring adventure it was to collaborate with the masterful illustrator Chris Ware on these new stamps commemorating 250 years of the US postal service.
Ware's contribution was to create an engaging homage to the daily routine of a mail carrier, embedded within an urban scene that changes with the seasons. Within the 20 stamps are multiple references to the USPS, but also little "easter eggs" for those who look closely. Check them out!

On April 25 at the "Gathering of Nations" in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the USPS unveiled a set of four stamps commemorating Powwows. We had the pleasure of working with Cochti Pueblo artist Mateo Romero to produce these stamps. Along with drum circles and singing, Powwows often feature dancing. The stamps show dancers performing traditional dances in their regalia. We're honored to have worked on this project presenting contemporary Native art and culture.
