This week, our Managing Partner, Nick Swartz, joined an insightful panel hosted by Michael Vigeant of GreatBlue Research, Inc.Research as part of the Shaping CT’s Future: Drive to ’35 series in Stamford, CT. The discussion, “The Intelligence Economy,” explored the evolving role of data and AI in shaping Connecticut’s future.
Nick emphasized that while AI is exceptionally good at organizing data, spotting patterns, and accelerating analysis, it still can’t create knowledge. As he noted, “Meaning isn’t in the data—it’s in the interpretation.” Knowledge is the human layer—the ability to read context, navigate ambiguity, apply judgment, and understand motivation. Across industries, the next decade won’t be defined by who collects the most data, but by who can translate that data into knowledge—and then into clearer strategy, stronger storytelling, and better decisions. AI accelerates the front half of the journey. Humans still own the back half. And that’s where the competitive advantage lives.
