Yesterday, I interviewed Trinity Thompson and as part of my ongoing market research to re-brand Nathalia Bailey Consulting as an email marketing agency.

Trinity is a friend from who served as Director of Experiential & Community Learning at The College Preparatory School, one of the nation’s top private schools. Lo was my manager at and is now successfully operating Salome Market in Arizona!

These 2 amazing, strategic ladies gave me insights I couldn't have on my own.

My MAIN TAKEAWAY?

Marketing is usually the LAST thing on a business owner’s mind! 🤯

There are plenty of other issues to deal with, including:

🚨 Employee management
🔥 Employee hiring & firing
🆘 Office politics
🧯 Fires to put out
🏥 Customer complaints
👾 Bad customers
💥 Good customers!

And the list goes on...

With so many urgent demands, it’s not surprising that most businesses put off the IMPORTANT task of creating strategies for long-term growth.

Until it’s too late.

And then business growth becomes just another fire 🔥, because business is stalled or tanking.

Being reminded of this reality, my question to businesses becomes:

⭐What will motivate you to proactively plan for your business’ long-term growth & marketing?⭐

🚒 Is it enough to know that if you don’t, you’ll eventually crash and burn, either temporarily or permanently?

💸 What about the possibility of creating more freedom of time and increasing profit? Is that what will motivate you to be proactive?

🆘 Or will you believe, like so many businesses before you, that it won’t happen to you? Is being on the verge of losing your business the only driver that will motivate you to change?

I don’t fully know the answer. I’m trying to find out, and I’d appreciate any feedback that can help me get there.

I’ve worked with businesses motivated by all 3 of the above. Some are driven by their hopes & aspirations. Some by their pain & disappointments.

I’d sure love for businesses to come to me BEFORE they feel the pain.

says it best. If you have a product or service you truly believe in, it's your responsibility to do everything in your power to market and sell it. Otherwise you're STEALING from the people who need you.

What a mind flip!

This sentiment is what drives me day in and day out. I have a passion for my clients' products and services, and I want the world to know about it.

At times, though, my passion to market my clients' business can outweigh their own. I understand why...

First, we can become de-sensitized to the value we have to offer in our own businesses. We can forget what makes us special. We can become blind to what makes us unique.

But I see it, I uncover it, and I share it.

Second, my clients plain old aren't marketers! It takes specialized skills and training to communicate a business's value.

And if you're trying to MARKET your business while RUNNING your business, you're probably not doing everything in your power to market & sell.

That's why my clients hire me to run their email marketing ;-)

And I work my butt off to do the best job possible. Because anything less would be stealing.

Sat down today with Tim Proctor, owner and steward of , for the first of many ideal client research interviews!

I met Tim back in 2017, during my first year as a marketing consultant. Now, almost 5 years later, I'm moving my business into a new niche - email conversion copywriting. In making the shift and writing a new website, I realized I need to get to know my ideal clients better. So I’m going back to research basics by interviewing kind, influential business owners like Tim.

3 hours later (our meeting was scheduled for an hour) and I know Tim a lot better!

GRP has been offering audio & video recording services since being founded by Greg Rike in 1974. They’ve got a rich history recording for legends like Jerry Seinfeld, The Beastie Boys, The Backstreet Boys and DJ Magic Mike. Today, with Tim at the helm since 2017, their clients range from Disney to PBS to the Catholic Diocese of Orlando (their beautiful videos have made me cry in mass).

More impressive than that is the spirit Tim and Video Production Manager Kristy Jones put into their work. They make an intentional effort to give back, working with nonprofits like Camp Boggy Creek and Kids In Support Of Soldiers (whose website I redesigned back in 17’). And they’re not satisfied with their work until they’ve met and exceeded a client’s expectations….or until they’ve moved viewers to tears.

Thank you Tim for letting me interview you!

P.S. If you’re a business owner (or you know someone who is), I’d love to learn more about who you are and what you want from a marketing business like mine so I can better serve. Comment below or DM me if interested. Promise I’ll keep our meeting to an hour!
