This month, we’re featuring longtime Fidalgo Island resident and owner of Fidalgo Flower & Co. , Maddie Knutson. Much like the flowers she grows and tends, Maddie’s journey has come full circle, blending her lifelong passion for gardening with floral design into a career. For her, it’s not just about arranging flowers, but about being part of the entire process, from nurturing each plant in its earliest stages to shaping it into something beautiful to share with others.

Our January issue is out and features local resident Bob Rose, who played a key role in spearheading the effort to protect the forest lands around Heart Lake from potential development in the late 1970s. His advocacy helped save the area from privatization and ultimately led to its designation as a state park—preserving it for the community to enjoy today.
