We loved catching up with our journalist and PR friends - and meeting new ones! - at the Vizard Marketing & PR and Inland Empire Regional Chamber of Commerce 2nd Annual Meet the Media event at KVCR Public Media . 🎙️✨🗞️

No subject was off the table. We talked AI, social media, how to think critically about credibility, and the human-interest stories that tug on all of our heartstrings.

Last Thursday, Westbounders from our OC office headed to downtown Santa Ana for the Orange County Public Relations Society of America Summer Media Mixer, hosted at the beautiful Alta Baja Market. A long-standing OCPRSA tradition, the mixer brought together local media and PR professionals for an evening of meaningful connections and engaging conversations with the journalists and storytellers who help share our communities’ stories.

Tiffany, Ava, Sam and Victor had the chance to connect with both familiar and new faces from across Orange and Los Angeles counties, all while enjoying the delicious food and drinks provided.

A huge thank you to the media representatives, especially emily manetta, San Sharma, Anne Marie Panoringan and JENNIFER • South OC Insider 🔎, for your time and thoughtful conversations. We’d also like to thank the OCPRSA board for bringing such a fantastic event to life. We had a blast!

In the Community

Some of the biggest stories in Riverside have Robert's fingerprints on them. Today, we're celebrating his selection to Leadership Riverside's Class of 2027.

If you've lived in Riverside over the past decade, chances are you've experienced Robert's work even though you just may not have realized it. From voter education for the Riverside County Registrar of Voters and media relations for California Baptist University to the opening of The Cheech and major transportation initiatives for RCTC, Robert has helped tell some of our community's biggest stories while building lasting relationships along the way.

Leadership Riverside is a 10-month program run by Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce that brings together leaders from business, government, education, and nonprofits to better understand the issues shaping our city. And collectively they work together to make it even stronger.

Congratulations, Robert! We can't think of a better fit and can't wait to see the impact you'll make with this year's class and beyond. Riverside is lucky to have you, and so are we.

Everyone, meet Tessa👋 — the newest face bringing fresh ideas (and great energy) to Westbound!

A public relations and marketing student at California Baptist University, Tessa brings a passion for strategic communication and meaningful connections. As vice president of the PRSSA chapter at CBU, she continues to grow her skills through content strategy, digital campaigns and experiential marketing. Her creativity and eagerness to learn makes her a wonderful addition to the Westbound team.

We’re so excited to be part of her PR journey and can’t wait to see all the incredible things she’ll accomplish.

Last week, Westbounders gathered at the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center in Rancho Cucamonga for our “Half and Half Retreat” - a half day of professional development and a half day of fun!

This year we tackled two topics: Our use of AI and improving our video shooting skills. We dove into best practices and the habits that help create award-winning work. A huge thank you to our special guest Martin Orozco, formerly with KABC News, for sharing his invaluable insights on capturing the kind of b-roll media actually want to use.

We wrapped up the day with some team bonding at the super fun Immersive Gamebox in Victoria Gardens. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Westbound retreat without happy hour. 🎉🥂

Every milestone has a story. 📖 We spent the afternoon with PRSA Inland Empire learning how San Bernardino Valley College brought 100 years of history to life through earned media, a dedicated historian, a 50-interview podcast series, and a documentary.

Our favorite takeaway? Nearly everyone interviewed had a personal tie to Valley, including our own Carrie, whose mom graduated from SBVC and whose dad played football there. The stories were already there... SBVC just gave people the chance to tell them. 🎓

Community outreach doesn’t take the summer off. ☀️
Spend the morning with Victor walking a Lake Elsinore neighborhood, making sure residents have the latest construction updates, and a few reminders for beating the heat while he was at it.
