Kelp is one of the most exciting frontiers in mariculture right now, with applications reaching far beyond the plate into beauty, skincare, and agriculture. Capturing its detail and form in these images was about showing kelp as a serious product innovation, not just an ingredient.

For the individual species shots, we stripped back the surroundings to let each kelp's distinct texture, color, and shape take center stage, creating a clean, forward-looking aesthetic that reflects where this industry is headed.

Obviously we love seafood, but did you know we're also into wine🍷? Another fun partnership with Tastemaker Comms led to the opportunity to work on point of sale materials for REAL WINE COLLECTIVE and House of Smith. We'll drink to that!

In honor of National Oyster Day, we're sharing some of the work we've done lately to promote Alaska's amazing oyster industry. RTC produced, art directed, and executed a photoshoot highlighting Alaska's oysters and kelp.

Our styling approach for the oysters was rooted in culinary appeal, capturing their deep cups and clean, briny character in both raw and cooked preparations, the way a chef or home cook would actually experience them.For kelp, we took a taxonomic approach, photographing each species individually to highlight its distinct texture, color, and form.

Together, these images tell the story of an industry defined by its hard working harvesters, abundance, and possibility.

The AK Marine Community Coalition buff was designed as the first piece of swag for the people who live and work in the Alaska marine communities. The custom patterns are built from the brand's illustrated icon system, translating the brand’s comprehensive visual language into a practical and functional piece of community pride!

Kodiak! Thank you for the warm welcome! Our team visited the Emerald Isle this week to photograph some of Alaska's incredible kelp and oyster farms and farmers.

Did you know? Alaska’s commercial kelp industry is young, but growing fast. Alaska’s first commercial kelp harvest was in 2017. Over 344,166 pounds were harvested in 2025, with strong growth projected for 2026 and beyond. There are more than 20 kelp farms in Alaska. Harvesting takes place each spring and early summer. Kelp farming supports coastal communities and contributes to ocean health by absorbing carbon and excess nutrients. Kodiak farmers have been on the leading edge of Alaska's kelp boom- thank you for hosting us!
