Today we recognize Juneteenth, a day that commemorates freedom and marks an important moment in our nation’s history.
On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, enslaved people in Texas finally learned they were free.
Juneteenth is a time to reflect on our past, celebrate progress, and honor the strength, perseverance, and contributions of generations of Americans.
