Sometimes the most important thing a sign can do is help someone find their way.

For someone seeking help with opioid dependency, taking that first step toward treatment can be difficult enough. Finding the right facility and understanding the services available shouldn't make it any harder.

That's why our recent project for Starting Point in Brooklyn Park deserves a little extra attention.

Our team at FASTSIGNS of Annapolis recently refurbished their existing roadside sign at 4109 Ritchie Highway, giving it a much-needed refresh while making important information clearer and easier to read.

And as you can see from the before-and-after photos, what a difference!

From treatment options and contact information to same-day admissions and walk-in availability, these are details that matter to someone seeking help.

It's a reminder that good signage isn't always about selling something. Sometimes it's about helping people find the services they need.

Thank you to the Starting Point team for trusting us with this project!

To our fellow business owners and community organizations: Is your exterior signage clearly communicating who you are and what you offer?

If it's time for a refresh, we'd love to help!

What if one of the most beautiful pieces of art you could own was something you've been carrying around your entire life? 👁️🎨

We're talking about your eyes!

Most of us know whether our eyes are blue, brown, green, or hazel. But have you ever seen the incredible patterns, colors, and tiny details that make your iris uniquely yours?

That's exactly what Iris Galerie brings to life, right here on Main Street in downtown Annapolis!

Using specialized photography, Iris Galerie captures the extraordinary details of the human iris and transforms them into personalized artwork. And judging by some of the examples on display, the results are pretty spectacular!

Our team at FASTSIGNS of Annapolis recently completed both exterior and interior signage for their gallery at 168 Main Street.

From the storefront lettering and projecting sign that welcome visitors along Main Street to the reception branding and interior wall graphics, our work helps create a consistent identity throughout the space.

What we particularly love about this project is the contrast between the gallery's clean, understated branding and the incredible colors of the iris artwork. The signage complements the experience without competing with the art itself.

And there's something rather fitting about the words displayed inside:

"The eyes are the mirror of the soul."

A big thank you to the Iris Galerie team for trusting FASTSIGNS of Annapolis with this project. We love seeing unique businesses bring something different to our downtown community, and we're proud to have helped make their vision a reality!

👁️ Now we're curious. Have you ever seen your own iris up close? Would you turn it into a piece of art?

If you're exploring downtown Annapolis, stop by Iris Galerie and see what makes this place so interesting!

And to our fellow business owners, does your signage reflect what makes your business unique? From the first impression outside to the experience customers have inside, we'd love to help you bring it all together.

Today is Columbus Day, also observed by many as Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

Annapolis has a long history, but the story of this region began long before the city itself.

The Piscataway, Nentego (Nanticoke), and Susquehannock peoples all have historical connections to the land and waterways around Annapolis.

For Indigenous families throughout the Chesapeake region, these waterways were part of everyday life. Fishing, gathering food from the marshes, and traveling along the Bay helped sustain communities for generations.

Just as importantly, the knowledge of the land and water was passed down through families, from one generation to the next.

Today is an opportunity to recognize these Indigenous communities, their history, and the generations who have helped shape the Chesapeake Bay region.

If you'd like to learn more about other Indigenous peoples throughout Maryland, the Maryland State Archives is a good place to start:

https://msa.maryland.gov/msa/mdmanual/01glance/native/html/00list.html

Wishing everyone observing the holiday a good day from our team at FASTSIGNS of Annapolis.

Five years ago, Annapolis showed up for Sean Hetrick.

Play A Song Music Festival was created in memory of Sean, an Annapolis musician whose family and friends wanted to bring the local music community together in his honor.

The first festival in 2021 did far more than fill a stage.

It raised nearly $30,000 for Annapolis Musicians Fund for Musicians, and that support helped establish the Sean Hetrick Bereavement Benefit, which provides financial assistance to local musicians and their immediate families after the death of a loved one.

That means Sean’s name and the community that rallied around him are still helping local musicians today.

Five years later, Play A Song returned to the Eastport Democratic Club.

And Annapolis showed up again.

Musicians took the stage. Friends and families filled the grounds. Local businesses stepped up as sponsors. AMFM was there. And the entire afternoon became another reminder of how strong the Annapolis music community can be when it comes together around one of its own.

Our FASTSIGNS of Annapolis team was proud to play a small part in bringing the event together.

We produced the large-format banners that surrounded the stage, including the sponsor recognition panels that gave the businesses and organizations supporting the festival a prominent place throughout the day.

Seeing them in place once the music started was rewarding, but the bigger story was what was happening inside that frame.

Play A Song was there to honor Sean Hetrick, bring the Annapolis music community together, and continue supporting local musicians and their families through AMFM.

That is the part of this project that gives the work a different meaning.

Yes, we are proud of how the stage looked.

But those banners were there to recognize the people supporting the event, help give the festival the presence it deserved, and surround a stage that existed because a family and a community wanted Sean to be remembered.

To Sean’s family and friends, the organizers, the musicians, AMFM, the sponsors, the Eastport Democratic Club, and everyone who came out, thank you for allowing us to be part of it.

Now, five years after that first festival, Play A Song returned to the Eastport Democratic Club

Bringing people together through music, remembering Sean, and supporting the Annapolis musicians and families who may need that community around them next.

We were proud to help frame that story.

If your nonprofit, fundraiser, festival, or community organization has an event taking shape, FASTSIGNS of Annapolis would be glad to help with the banners, sponsor recognition, event graphics, and wayfinding that help bring it all together.

Some projects really put scale into perspective.

Our FASTSIGNS of Annapolis team recently completed this exterior dimensional signage for Current Cabinetry in White Marsh, and this one has some serious presence.

The building gave us a lot of space to work with, which meant the signage needed to be substantial enough to hold its own on the façade.

The finished result does exactly that.

The Current Cabinetry logo and dimensional lettering create a strong focal point against the blue-gray exterior while still feeling completely at home with the architecture of the building.

And if the finished sign alone doesn’t quite communicate the size of this project, take a look at our lift truck sitting underneath it.

That tells the story pretty quickly.

Large-scale building signage like this is about more than making something visible. It is about making sure the size, placement, materials and installation all work together so the finished sign feels intentional from the moment you see the building.

We’re proud of how this one came together and appreciate Current Cabinetry trusting FASTSIGNS of Annapolis with the project.

If your building has the visibility but your signage is not making the most of it, our team would be happy to help.

There’s something especially rewarding about seeing a client come back when it’s time to open the next location.

We first worked with Allison on her Annapolis Toastique location, and when the same ownership team expanded into Severna Park, we were proud to help bring the brand to life again.

Our relationship with Toastique has now touched Baltimore, DC, Annapolis and Severna Park, and one of the things we value most about that kind of growth is helping a brand stay consistent while still making each location feel connected to the community it serves.

For Severna Park, that meant carrying the Toastique look from the storefront through the windows and into the interior, including the large local-inspired wall graphic that gives the space its own identity.

Recently, we had the chance to see it all come together at their Community Preview and Ribbon Cutting alongside members of the Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce & Greater Severna Park and Arnold Chamber.

It was great to see the store packed, the team in place and so many people from the local community there to support them.

A big congratulations to the Toastique Severna Park team on the new location, and thank you again for trusting Fastsigns of Annapolis as you continue to grow.

Toastique Severna Park is now open at:
580 Ritchie Highway, Store K
Severna Park, MD 21146

If your business is opening another location, expanding into a new market or looking for a signage partner who can help keep your brand consistent from one location to the next, we’d love to be part of the conversation.

Projects mean a little more when they're right here at home.

We recently completed a multi-part branding project for Southern High School, helping bring Bulldog pride across their athletic facilities while putting decades of school history and championship success on display.

From the scoreboards and championship displays to the doors, pole banners and exterior branding, the goal was bigger than simply adding signs.

It was about creating an environment that feels unmistakably Southern High School, with the blue and gold, the Bulldog and the accomplishments of generations of student-athletes carrying throughout the campus.

And that’s what makes a project like this especially meaningful for us.

Southern High School is part of the same Anne Arundel County community we work in every day.

These are the schools attended by our neighbors’ kids, the teams families spend their evenings and weekends supporting, and the places where students, athletes and alumni build memories that last long after graduation.

We’re proud that FASTSIGNS of Annapolis could play a small part in celebrating that history and giving future Bulldogs something they can be proud to walk past every day.

Take a look through the photos to see how the entire project came together.

If your school, athletic program or organization is looking for a way to better tell its story and bring its identity into the spaces people experience every day, we’d love to help.

FastSigns of Annapolis

Your business may have changed a lot over the years.

Your signage might not have.

That is something we see more often than you might think.

A sign can still be standing, still be readable and technically still “work” while no longer doing much for the business behind it.

Maybe it has faded into the building.

Maybe neighboring businesses have become more noticeable.

Maybe the branding has changed.

Maybe people walking or driving past simply do not notice it the way they once did.

Around Annapolis, that matters.

Historic buildings, tighter streets, pedestrian traffic, waterfront activity and businesses sitting close together mean signage has to work within the property and the neighborhood around it.

So this Friday, take a look at your building from across the street instead of from the front door.

Does your signage still represent the business you have today?

Does it stand out for the right reasons?

And if you were visiting for the first time, would it catch your attention?

If the answer to any of those gives you pause, it may be worth taking a closer look.

You do not need to know what the replacement should be.

That is where we come in.

Send us a photo, stop by Fourth Street, or have us come walk the property with you. We would be happy to give you another set of eyes.

A photo can tell us a lot about a building.

It can’t tell us everything.

That’s why some signage projects need us to get out to the property and see it for ourselves.

Around Annapolis, two buildings a few blocks apart can present completely different challenges.

Historic construction. Tight streets. Limited installation access. Existing electrical. Old mounting points. Waterfront properties. Mixed-use buildings.

Those details can change what makes sense for the project.

When we conduct a site survey, the goal is to understand the property before we start making recommendations.

We measure. We photograph. We look at what’s already there. We figure out how the sign will be mounted and how our installation team will eventually reach it.

And sometimes we find something on site that nobody could have spotted from a picture.

That information goes back to our design, estimating, production and installation teams so everyone is working from the same accurate information.

For the customer, that means better planning and fewer surprises later.

If you’re considering a signage project around Annapolis and aren’t sure what will work at your property, give us a call.

We’d be happy to come take a look.
