"I’m going to live in the corporate world."

That was Laraine Hutcherson, MBA's plan. She loved math, built spreadsheets for fun, and went after her MBA. Then, life happened.

Within days of enrolling, she found out she was pregnant. Shortly after, an urgent call changed everything overnight: three family members needed a home. Suddenly, Laraine and her partner went from zero kids to four.

The corporate 9-to-5 dream wasn't realistic anymore. Between school meltdowns and complex schedules, she needed flexibility. So, she started taking on bookkeeping clients during her "free" time. Accounting became her escape—her quiet space in a busy world.

Today, that survival pivot is Strength In Numbers Co. (SINC), a thriving firm that specializes in nonprofit accounting and purposely hires parents who need that same radical flexibility to care for their families.

Laraine’s story is proof that an unexpected path can lead to something incredibly positive. You can build a successful business, support your community, and do it completely on your own terms.
