Hi friends and neighbors,
I wanted to share something that happened TODAY (Saturday, August 2nd) between 12:30 and 1:00 pm on Ord Street in Aptos. While our friend Jorge was helping us build a retaining wall, someone stole his entire toolbox and w**d eater straight out of his truck.
Jorge is one of the kindest, hardest-working people you’ll ever meet. He charges $30/hour, works tirelessly, and has slowly built up his set of tools over the years—tools he depends on for his livelihood. In just one moment, all of that was taken away.
We filed a report with the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Department, but as many of you know, the chances of recovering stolen property are slim. This wasn’t just “stuff” taken—this was someone’s ability to make a living, to help families in our community repair and rebuild their homes.
I’m posting here for two reasons:
1) Awareness – If you live nearby, please keep your eyes open and watch out for suspicious activity. Sadly, petty theft in our area is on the rise.
2) Support – If you’re able, we’ve set up a GoFundMe to help Jorge replace his stolen tools and get back to work. No one should have to start from scratch because of someone else’s bad choices.

Let’s show that our community stands together, supports honest work, and does not tolerate theft that hurts good people trying to make a living.
Thank you all for reading and for helping spread the word.
