An incomprehensibly stupid, cruel, and shortsighted move (one of MANY) by DOGE and the Trump administration. 🤬 Just another way Trump and Trumpism is making America WEAK.

Where do you think that data comes from? This is how we get all of that info for apps, broadcast weather forecasts, etc. — not to mention saving lives in the face of flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes, snow storms, and extreme heat.

Do we want China and other rivals to run circles around us with innovation and expertise because this is a great way to do that and drag America to the bottom. And all to fund tax cuts for the ultra wealthy? Is this really making America great or making everyone worse off to satisfy the greed of a few (i.e. Elon Musk)?

All this cutting and forced austerity isn’t being done carefully — it’s breaking everything recklessly, including as shown in this latest example with the world leading forecasting expertise from NOAA and the National Weather Service, entities that serve all Americans with a high understanding of duty and patriotism. 🇺🇸 Certainly these agencies understand that importance much more than these clueless ghouls Trump has been letting run rampant in our federal government.

For as clueless as the Nov. electorate was, I don’t think most folks voted to have us lose America’s innovative edge or to cut essential government services like this.

All Americans deserve so much better than this cut and burn approach — let’s push back and truly invest in Americans, not just a bunch of rich pricks.

I can’t begin to express the anger and frustration I have for y’all impacted by this reckless, shortsighted, and cruel cut and burn approach from the Trump administration. The service NOAA and NWS employees provide is invaluable and this move will harm folks across the country — regardless of who they voted for (or just flat out couldn’t be bothered to vote for — that’s a whole other can of worms to unpack).

This is another move from the Trump administration (and included in that, Elon Musk) that makes America weaker and our overseas rivals stronger. We as Americans deserve so much better from our government.

On behalf of these hard working folks and for keeping all Americans safer in the face of severe weather and climate extremes, I would ask that you please call your federal representative and senator’s offices to let them know you don’t support this gutting of America’s innovative edge and research.

It's an early start for me this morning as I fly out of DCA to head to the giant RE+ renewable energy conference in Anaheim. 🛩 ⚡ ☀ 🔋 🍃 💧

And thanks to WMATA for the smooth sailing to the airport — from departing the NoMa station to sitting at my gate (all the way in Terminal 1) in 40 minutes. Not too shabby! Ⓜ 🚈 😃

Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces among the 40,000 attendees and meeting plenty of new ones too. See you there, my fellow energy nerds.
