🌽 A Behind-the-Scenes Look at How Seed Corn is Produced 🌽
Today we spent some time looking at a field of 100-day NutriCrave seed corn. While it might look a little unusual, every part of the field has a purpose.
The brown rows you see are the male parent plants that supplied the pollen.
The corn with the tassels removed are the female parent plants, which are prevented from pollinating themselves so they receive pollen only from the selected male parent.
The result? The ears on those female plants contain the hybrid seed that combines the best traits from both parents.
A lot of science, planning, and hard work goes into producing the seed that will then be planted next season. Always fun to see it up close!

🌾 Wheat Incoming!

In this video, Duane takes a look at some of the wheat coming in and shares his thoughts on the quality we're seeing this season. Quality is something we pay close attention to because we know it matters to our customers.

Quality seed starts with great people.
We had the opportunity to attend the Illinois Crop Improvement open house today and tour their newly expanded facility. The addition will increase capacity for their state-of-the-art seed testing services, helping support the integrity and performance that growers depend on.
Seeing the faces, expertise, and technology behind the testing process was a great reminder of the partnerships that help deliver confidence from seed production all the way to the field. We're proud to partner with an organization that shares our commitment to quality and excellence.

Good morning from the bees! They were hard at work this morning on our diverse wildflower seed mix. This mix is not only beautiful, but can also provide nectar sources for pollinators from spring to fall (once established). We are coming up on another seeding window in the next few months. Stop by anytime to pick up some of this mix to add color to your landscape and support pollinators! If you listen closely to the video, you can hear the bees buzzing away!

Duane recently stopped by a local field of our FSG 421 Leaf Hopper alfalfa. This is a health stand with excellent regrowth that will likely be cut very soon.
