I’m beyond excited and honored to announce that Deirdre Lopian Public Relations, LLC has won two 35th Annual Pyramid Awards - including the highest honor—Best in Show—and a Pyramid in the “Events” category for producing the inaugural New Jersey Integrated Mental Health Conference (NJIMHC)!

Taking on such a significant project was a privilege, and this award reflects the incredible effort and passion that went into bringing NJIMHC to life.

I’m incredibly grateful to Larry Thompson and Seth Arkush, the visionaries and founders of NJIMHC for engaging DLPR to produce this event and carry out their vision. Their commitment to advancing the integrated mental health conversation was instrumental in making NJIMHC a success, and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together.

This conference launched a vital platform that brought together practitioners, leaders, and advocates in mental health, behavioral health, and holistic wellness - from New Jersey and surrounding states - to take a deeper dive into exploring collaboration between psychiatry, psychotherapy, and mind-body modalities to effectively treat the mental well-being of patients.

I also want to give a huge thank you to the behind-the-scenes team who worked hard to make this conference happen: John Alesi, Dory Rachel, Juan Carlos Ramos, Raphaella Rodrigues, Tristin Fleck, and NJIMHC event partner Eric Kussin of hashtag Global Mental Health Movement.

And a special thank you to Marvin Flavien of MK Flavv Video for his exceptional work on the event video, and 🇺🇸 Ali J. Taylor of Bel Marketing Design Studio for creating the event program. Thank you both for your unwavering support, partnership, and friendship.

This project inspired me to continue to focus on projects that support meaningful causes, drive positive change, and leave a lasting impact on our communities.

May is Month. New Jersey Integrated Mental Health Conference shares tips to boost your mental health today and every day. 💚💙

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

Let's take a moment to acknowledge the importance of mental health and focus on nurturing our minds and souls. 💚 Our mental well-being is crucial, and we must be intentional in taking care of ourselves and those around us.

Here are some tips you can try to boost your mental health today! 🌟

1️⃣ Mindfulness: Embrace daily meditation or deep breathing exercises to reduce stress and anxiety. Mindfulness helps you stay present and connect with your emotions without judgment. 🧘‍♀️

2️⃣ Nature: Step outside and appreciate the beauty of nature. It can lower stress, boost mood, and enhance happiness. 🌳

3️⃣ Self-care: Prioritize self-care routines like exercise, journaling, or hobbies. Nurturing yourself physically, emotionally, and mentally is essential for overall well-being. 💆‍♂️

4️⃣ Support system: Cultivate relationships with friends, family, and mental health professionals who offer a safe space to share feelings and experiences. A strong support system is vital during tough times. 👫

5️⃣ Creative expression: Channel emotions into creative outlets like painting, writing, dancing, or playing music. This can help process feelings and provide a sense of accomplishment. 🎨

6️⃣ Healthy boundaries: Learn to say 'no' and protect your mental and emotional space. Establishing healthy boundaries fosters balance and self-respect. 🚧

7️⃣ Self-compassion: Treat yourself with kindness and understanding, acknowledging that everyone faces challenges. Compassion towards ourselves helps manage emotions and cope with adversity. 💕

Remember, you're not alone. Reach out to mental health professionals or support groups if needed. Let's create a world that prioritizes mental well-being and celebrates self-care! ❤️🧠🌍

A NASM, ACSM, ACE or any other fitness cert out doesn’t mean someone is a good fitness coach.

Anybody can teach someone how to do a burpee but it takes an empathetic, committed, culturally intelligent, self-aware coach to learn about, respect, listen to, and train diverse bodies and abilities in fitness spaces.

A good fitness coach is intentional about continually educating themselves on training & understanding diverse bodies - fat, black, trans, disabled, LGBTQIA+, & age diverse.

They should also check their biases regularly in effort to continually create a psychologically safe fitness space of inclusion & belonging which is what ultimately has a positive effect on client’s physical health.

This event is so important to me that I had to share it on my feed. & Fitness4AllBodies LLC]] and their workshops & conversations have been an integral part of my healing from the abuse I endured from mainstream fitness coaches.

More importantly, Justice & Calling All White Women’s workshops are a part of my anti racism & unlearning education, in & out of the fitness industry.

These awesome panelists will help us deconstruct the experience of gender oppression, fatphobia, and the effects of social media(influencers and ideas) on the relationships we have within the fitness industry.

If we are going to change the fitness industry to make space for all bodies, we must continue having conversations that exposes us to the experiences of others.

・・・
• Black & White women-identified fitness professionals get real about power, invisibility, and the challenge of building true relationships.

During this panel we will deconstruct the experience of gender oppression, fatphobia, and the effects of social media(influencers and ideas) on the relationships we have within the fitness industry.

This means that we will be tackling ideas of whiteness as a social construct, white privilege, and the intersections of race, gender, ability, and s*x. If we are going to talk body positivity we need to understand the biases we hold about identities and bodies.

Social media managers & DIY marketers, don't try to be funny in the captions - the chance of your implicit bias coming through and perpetuating a stereotype and turning your content into a microaggression is a big risk.

Unless you are working with a diverse team, write captions to educate, engage and inspire your audience.

Tip of the Day

Words Matter

Be purposeful when using inclusive language. Inclusive language goes far beyond just using the right words, it helps cultivate a space where everyone can feel heard and respected. It isn’t leaned from a textbook, it starts by having conversations with individuals and communities you want to reach and learning how they want to be addressed and represented.

Yes, representation matters…but so do words.
