The “AI Boundaries for Designers” training isn’t just about how to prevent clients from using AI during your design process.

It’s about how to set and maintain strong boundaries, successfully and smoothly, for anything in your design business.

You can’t add AI clauses to your contract and put AI-related policies in place without having a strong overall design process.

This training focuses on AI, yes. And I’ll be showing you how these important policies and communications fit into my bigger-picture client process.

You’ll actually be getting a look behind-the-scenes at how I set and maintain pretty much all of my most important boundaries, not just the AI-related ones.

That means that after this training, not only will you be equipped to proactively prevent your clients from using generative AI during your design process, you’ll be able to adapt what you learn to navigate other challenges you experience in your design business.

Recently I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with Vicki of , a sparkling wine shop in Illinois, on some super fun merch designs and print pieces!

Vicki has the best ideas and so much excitement for her business. When we started working together, she already had a strong brand that she loved, so it was important that new design pieces felt consistent with the style her customers have come to know and expect.

If you’re in or near Downers Grove, IL, give her a follow and check out all her amazing events and wines!

Designers: if you thought “AI Boundaries for Designers” was going to be me telling you to put AI clauses in your design contract, think again.

AI-related contract clauses are only one small step needed to actually prevent your clients from using AI in ways that hurt your design process (generating design feedback, filling in questionnaires, etc.).

Proactively preventing these things requires new boundaries and communications. Early, clearly, and consistently.

At this training, I’ll be sharing 4 common situations where unwanted AI creeps into your process, and how to stop them from happening, while maintaining positive relationships with your clients at the same time.

A quick search for “wellness logo design” brings up a sea of lotus flowers and, for some reason, strange whispy stick people with their arms out?

You didn’t build your business to blend in and be just like everyone else.

You built it to stand out and attract best-fit clients who align with your values and enable you to grow towards your biggest business goals.

When you’ve outgrown “good enough,” it’s time to talk! I’m currently booking for summer and fall. Let’s connect!

As a designer, when you’re repeatedly experiencing difficult client challenges, the advice is always to “put xyz in your design contract.”

And yes! You definitely want to do that.

BUT that’s not the only thing you need to do.

The problem won’t be fully resolved until you integrate strong policies and communications into all phases of your design process.

And THIS is what you need to do if you really want to prevent your client from using AI to send design feedback, fill in questionnaires, and make logos.

I’m teaching EXACTLY how to do this at an upcoming training!

Join me for “AI Boundaries for Designers: Navigating Client AI Use during Design Projects!”

A strong logo should work for *only* your business. You shouldn’t be able to pop in any other business name and have the logo work just as well.

So in the sea of stethoscopes and lotus flowers for health and wellness brands, you have a HUGE opportunity to stand out, grab your ideal client’s attention, and resonate with them deeply.

And THAT can be the reason they choose to book an appointment with you over another provider.

At Amp’d Designs, while I absolutely love working with and learning about a variety of industries, I have designed quite a few logos and brand identities for health, wellness, and medical practices. It’s one of my favorite industries to collaborate with because I’ve personally explored my own wellness journey, and therefore have immense admiration for the intentional work that providers do.

I decided to put together a blog post sharing 6 strong, unique, values-driven healthcare logos that stand the test of time and help each business grow.

Give it a read to hear the deep meaning behind each!: https://www.ampddesigns.com/blog/healthcare-logo-designs

I’m excited to be participating in “The Biz Hero HQ Solutions Lab: Solving What Matters,” an in-person event in Asheville on June 8!

This is going to be such a wonderful and refreshing event with a totally unique format geared towards *action* in your business. When my friend and former business coach Johanna asked me to participate, it was an automatic yes!

Unlike traditional networking events, the Solutions Lab is structured for action. Attendees will bring a real challenge—such as growth, funding, leadership, or operations—and work through it in real time through guided exercises, peer learning labs, and expert-led sessions.

This is an in-person, hands-on event for WNC entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, and purpose-driven organizations to help you tackle real business challenges.

This event includes:
• Challenge mapping exercises
• Keynote on purpose-driven work
• Group learning labs
• Expert panel
• Networking & connection

Participants be guided by a network of WNC-based subject matter experts (including Amp’d Designs!) who are each contributing time, expertise, and in some cases additional pro bono services to support participants.

Tickets are a $10 donation, supporting Community Health and Wellness Collective Services.

11 years today since I graduated from with a BFA in Communications Design, focus on Graphic Design!

Design isn’t a hobby I just picked up one day. I’ve been doing this work for my entire professional life. (And even well before!) Since graduating college, I’ve never held a non-design position.

My time at design school was some of the best years of my life. Despite every grueling project, every night spent working till 3am, every creative block, every harsh critique — I was still so, so happy to be doing the thing I loved to do, knowing that I’d be doing it for the rest of my life.

Art school is fun, but it’s hard. Freshman year consisted of three 6-hour classes (each in one shot!) and three 3-hour classes. We didn’t have 1 senior project; we had 4. It was not uncommon to hang work on the wall only for our professor to say, “this look awful. Why would you do this?” You grow a backbone! In time, you learn how to put meaning behind every design decision so you can answer those questions confidently. You learn how to defend your work. Instead of feeling shot down, I always thought, “oh yeah, not good enough? I’m gonna prove I can do this.”

My senior year, I received “exceptional” awards on all 4 of my senior projects, was selected for the juried senior show, and selected to speak to prospective students as a representative of the Communications Design department.

It is an immense privilege to have the opportunity to go to school, and not only that but to study something you truly love; that is never lost on me. I could not imagine doing anything else with my life. I never once doubted whether I should become a graphic designer. If I could go back and choose to do it all again, I would in a heartbeat.

It’s been a joy collaborating with Beam Center for the past 3 years on their website design, annual reports, newsletters, and continued design updates.

One thing I love most about my work is learning about *other people’s* work, and Beam Center is one of the most inspiring organizations I’ve had the pleasure of working with. I always enjoy reading through their new website copy and seeing new photos every time we update their site. Their commitment to their mission and the projects produced by the young people they work with are incredible.

Beam is an NYC-based nonprofit that supports and empowers youth to learn new skills and build confidence. Recently we added two new pages to their Squarespace website highlighting their English Language Learning Program and their annual summer festival.

You can learn more about them at beamcenter.org, and if you’re in NYC this summer, consider checking out OtherWorlds Fair!
