Circa 1986… anyone who’s been to my house will recognize this painting. Originally commissioned by a savings and loan to hang in their vault. The president of the bank back in the 20s cleaned out the coffers and left in his Duesenberg with his mistress, never to be seen again. The original painting had the streetscape of the bank in the background and a flapper adjusting a diamond anklet with her foot up on the running board. Apparently he had taken his wife’s jewelry as well.

When I went to the bank to present the painting there was police tape across the doors and the bank was closed pending an investigation of the current president who stole money and fled.

I painted out the flapper and the streetscape and have carted the painting around the US since then.
