Great tips from our friends at Asheville GreenWorks for recycling clothing, shoes and textiles that are too worn for consignment or Goodwill. Weβd add Asheville Humane Society & other animal shelters will take towels and blankets.
Challenge: How can you recycle clothing and textiles since they DO NOT belong in your blue bin? Of course, you can always consign or donate to a local charity if there's still some life in them. But what about those holey socks, stained t-shirts, and other items you'd likely just put in the trash?
H&M at the Asheville Mall has a garment-collecting box where clothing of any brand and condition can be dropped off. Then, items are sorted to be either reworn, reused, or recycled. You'll even get a voucher to shop with!
Nike has a Reuse-a-Shoe program. Old athletic shoes of any brand can be dropped off at stores, like our Nike Factory at the Asheville Outlets, where they'll be recycled and turned into surfaces like tracks and playgrounds.
At certain times of year, Soma Intimates will take bras that still have some life in them.
Green Zone has a drop off bin outside of The Regeneration Station where you can recycle textiles.
DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse also collects shoes and gives you reward points.
