Some real talk for your Wednesday—
I have been in the social media marketing world for a few years now. But when I decided to launch a full time social media management business, I took a few months off to invest in myself and my future biz (that's a whole different post though)
Once I launched, I was instantly overwhelmed by all of the "rules" it seemed so many accounts, with tens of thousands of followers and unreal engagement rates, were saying needed to be followed in order to succeed on this platform.
I questioned my experience, doubted my abilities, and wondered if my investment was wasted.
Being totally vulnerable? I sort of still do. If you were reading for the "but then I had a revelation" or "and then a sage mentor reminded me" part of this post then just keep scrolling because it isn't coming.
What I can say is that I've started playing by my own rules. I'm fighting to stay rooted in the truth that I do have years of experience, I do have deeply creative and innovative abilities, and I have invested super well in my education and resources.
So I'm moving forward authentically. Because following the rules won't serve me if I have to compromise myself to keep up with them.
Slow, authentic growth is still growth. For me, and for you.
