On October 23, 2012 the Grady School of Journalism will open its doors to the advertising and public relations world by hosting a networking event for University of Georgia students and industry professionals. Here's what you can expect at the event this year:
11:30 – 1:00 Senior Luncheon: Senior Advertising and Public Relations students will be invited to the luncheon along with any professional
s that are able to attend. The luncheon is free for all guests and dietary recommendations can be made when you register for ADPR Connection 2012.
1:15 – 3:00 Workshops and Resume/portfolio critiques: Four workshops will be offered this year along with resume and portfolio critiques. The workshops are as follows:
1:15 - 2:00 The Key to Lasting Impressions - What employers look for in new hires: Our goal for this workshop is for students to ask any questions they have about the job market, how to be remembered after an interview, when to apply for a job, etc.
1:15 - 2:00 - The Impact of Social Media on the Industry: This workshop will discuss the different ways going online has changed the field and educate students on the importance of having a digital presence.
2:15 - 3:00 Off the Beaten Path - Oh the Places Your Degree Can Go: Panelist for this workshop will include professionals who have taken a unique career path.
2:15 - 3:00 Reality Check: Life Post-Grady: This panel will consist of 3 or 4 recent Grady graduates (within the past year or so). Students will have the opportunity to ask all the questions they may not want to ask in an interview such as: how much should I expect to get paid, do you have a good work/life balance, what was the hardest part about transitioning,etc.
1:15 - 3:00 Resume Critiques: When you register for ADPR Connection, you will be able to sign-up for 15-minute resume or portfolio critiques.
3:30 – 5:00 Career Fair
6:00– 8:00 Downtown Mixer
