This weekend my precocious kindergartner put on a giant pair of adult tennis shoes, a baseball cap, and an oversized hoodie.

Then she announced to me, “This is Me. This is who I am now.“

In the midst of giggling, I realized sometimes it really is as simple as that.

Making a change, starting a new project, shifting something inside of us…

It’s that simple.

Take the step. Do it. Make the change.

Then tell the world this is who you are now! The people who care about you will be cheering from the sidelines. 🙌

This season of my life isn’t easy, and inside my private container of SMM’s, I’ve heard so many stories from other entrepreneur moms feeling it, too.

Divorce
Illness
Depression
Uncertainty
Trauma
Fear

I feel it.

Some of the chapters we write in brightly colored markers, and some we’re forced to write in scrawling pen that we can barely hold.

The Social Media Managers I talk to are often not brand new but still working to build up their business.

So the cookie cutter courses and coaching programs don’t really feel super aligned…

Because half the modules focus on the business setup they’ve already done. Or they’re vague and pretty much useless.

What’s missing is how to:

🔥 Market your own social media management services
🔥 Network for your business (the actual steps)
🔥 Sell marketing services in a way that feels good
🔥 Keep clients happy and business healthy

When I talk to a Social Media Manager, these are the things they NEED to know like yesterday.

They need to know how to do it all from someone who has actually done it… from someone who IS doing it!

My biggest source of pride is that I teach exactly that—and more—and at the same time I’m still actively running my social media marketing agency.

I have no intention of not doing both. I don’t want to be a forever coach.

Sometimes you’re in the car when the best business ideas hit. 🚗

Sometimes you’re in the shower. 🛀

Sometimes you’re at the bottom of a months long burnout that was really years in the making. 🫠

And sometimes you’ve made some big mistakes along the way because of it.

So here’s to the burnouts, the moms who are trying to exist in a post-ish-Covid world, the online entrepreneurs taking up space and trying to find happiness. 🥂

This week I'm on a big fat lovely vacation with my family. I'd originally planned all my blog, podcast, and social media content to continue without a hiccup. It's the beauty of scheduling tools, right?!

Once upon a time, I would've done exactly that. 🏰

I would've pretended that everything was continuing as normal even as I juggled my 4 kids or a vacation or a funeral (true story). 🥀

And then my followers would be wondering why I wasn't responding to DM's, and my clients would be wondering why it was taking me longer than usual to respond to emails. And I wouldn't really be taking a vacation.

Nowadays, I don't hide that I'm a mom first and a business owner second. 👪

I create systems and hire team members to support me. I build my business with a structure in place that allows me to take time off for playdates, field trips, and vacations. I set expectations with my clients.

Because I didn't do that once upon that faraway time.

And it was like building a cage to escape my 9-5 corporate cage. Only this time all of the responsibility was on my shoulders, too.

I've learned how to share the load so that my marketing clients are supported without me needing to sacrifice my sanity or freedom or this precious time with my kids.

So for this week, I'll be all up in your business sharing this vacation magic to my Instagram stories—how amazing it is to relax and spend Spring Break with my kids at the beach.

But I'm not going to be posting business things on my feed, my out of office autoresponder in my email is on, I'm not hopping on calls, and I'm not going to be answering many DM's.

See you all next week, sans sunburn I hope! 🌞
