What a perfect day in ☀️

It was one of those slow Sundays where my friends and I found ourselves at at for brunch, seated outside to listen to the bustle of the city happy to greet Spring.

The perfect day for a , really. When I voiced to my friends that maybe I’d ask for one without alcohol, all I received was encouragement. So I didn’t think twice when the server took my order. But he did. He looked confused, and said “so just the Bloody Mary mix?” As if the concept was unheard of. Heat unrelated to the sun immediately flooded my cheeks and my first reaction was to question myself. Is that weird? I asked my friends when the waiter walked away from the table, and they were quick to validate me.

I wanted to share this in a post because this sort of response from servers is pretty much status quo. The non-alcoholic Bloody Mary was delicious friends, and only $4.50. I’m glad I got it, and I’m grateful for supportive friends.

If you’re a server in , please just smile and make it work when someone orders a drink without alcohol. I know more than myself will appreciate it!

Cheers and wishing you all a slow and lazy end to your weekend 💋

💋 PSA for ATL 💋

Here is the awaited and eagerly anticipated part 2 to “Responses When Someone Says “I’m Not Drinking””

These are just a few appropriate responses when you bump into someone who doesn’t drink, say when you’re out and about on the ☀️

Weirdly enough, we humans can sometimes struggle with respecting boundaries and personalizing what someone else is doing 👀

If you drink alcohol, let this be a word to the wise.

If you don’t drink alcohol, remember that what anyone says isn’t personal. 😉

When someone you know gives up alcohol, it can feel awkward as a friend or family member that wants to support them but isn’t sure what that looks like.

Communication is 🔑! Trust that they can navigate this journey and adjustment on their own. You don’t need to suddenly stop drinking around them or stop inviting them places—unless they ASK. If anything, many sober curious folks will welcome feeling as if nothing has changed just because the drink in their hand has.

If you have concerns or want to show your support, simply ask. “What can I do to support you?” is a great place to start! 💋
