I have always found it exciting to persuade people to do things I wanted them to do. I don’t know why. From deciding with my friends what to do after school, to getting my daddy to agree with me over my siblings. It just gave me a rush. When I got older, I realized that was called marketing.
I’m a Managerial Science major (sounds fancy, but it’s basically the study of business). Studying for this degree, I had to learn about all the aspects of operating a business. Therefore, after graduating I held a variety of roles and now work in accounting services by day and as a marketer by night.
It was in one of my last semesters in college that I really fell in love with marketing. I had an amazing professor, Michael Williams, who was also a youth pastor. He pushed us in creative ways. He would tell me I pray for you every day and, most importantly, that you don’t drop those babies in my class! I was 7 months pregnant with twins at the time, but no matter how tired I was, I showed up every day. I won marketing contests in the class. One contest I won was for my resume. I still use it to this day! And I have never had a problem getting a job!
I graduated college and, you know, life happened. A new mother with two kids in a marketing position was a pipe dream, something you see only in the movies. So I focused on crafting my skills for accounting services because I enjoyed numbers as well.
You know the saying, “If it’s your purpose it will show up again?” Well, marketing showed up again. This time it showed up in a place I wasn’t expecting – church! I go to The Faith Center in Tucker, GA, a forever evolving church under the leadership of Pastor Vincent Campbell. He is more than just a pastor; he is a marketing genius, but he uses his skills to spread the love of God.
It was early in my walk with Christ and at TFC but my spirit told me to write a marketing plan for the church. First of all, I thought I was tripping and these folk are going to laugh at me. But it was so strong in my spirit I had to do it. And guess what? They loved it! Our first lady came to me and said your email really motivated Pastor. Years later, I was the leader of the marketing team for the church. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to serve and for everything I learned while spreading the love of God at TFC.
I was also a part of a multi-level marketing company. No, I didn’t immediately become a millionaire as they promised, but I met great people and learned a lot. They introduced me to self-development, which fueled my marketing and my life.
After serving some years on the marketing team at church I decided to branch out on my own and started offering social media marketing services. Yes, my first client was someone from my church and I will be forever grateful to her.
Growing my business hasn’t been easy, but when I wanted to give up God and my clients’ satisfaction has kept me going. I think the hardest thing for me was maintaining the self-belief that I could do it and bring people value. And year after year, month after month God has shown me I have more than enough.
I say all this to say welcome to AsbyNicole MGMT, where we bring your vision to fruition.
