We recently had the chance to catch up with our friend and colleague, Ken Ross.

Ken, who is president of , shared an update on the work underway to honor the legacy, and continue the work, of Elisabeth Kübler-Ross in her 100th year.

📅 July 8 marks her 100th birthday and here is a snapshot of what’s happening:

📚 Previously unavailable writings—including “The Dougy Letter” and “The Tunnel and the Light”—will be released as e-books.
🌍 Hospice initiatives are expanding globally:
• Adult hospice in Chile
• Pediatric hospice in Peru
• Indigenous hospice in Guatemala
🤝 Compassionate community efforts launched in Singapore in collaboration with local partners
🇦🇷 New programs and chapters beginning in Argentina
📂 Archival materials and unpublished works being made available

If you’ve been influenced by Kübler-Ross’s work, this is a moment to revisit, reflect, and engage.

“What could possibly go wrong?” 🦋

Turns out…a lot.

Nothing says “symbol of transformation” like a box of butterflies that did not survive a cold Cleveland morning. ❄️❄️❄️

A memorial, a moment, and a metaphor…

Maybe the lesson isn’t about the butterfly release…

Maybe it’s about the illusion of control, and how little control we really have. 🕹️

Many thanks to Elissa - aka Sleepy Dead Butterfly Lady - for sharing her story.

If you have a story of an end of life moment gone sideways that you would like to share, we’d love to hear it!

So many families enter hospice:

👉Without a plan.
👉🏽Without understanding their options.
👉🏾Without realizing their own authority.

As hospice nurse Angela says so clearly:

✨ Hospice doesn’t mean giving up. It means choosing how you live.

Allyson embodies that in our documentary, “A Butterfly Has Been Released.”

💜She chose quality of life
💜She chose connection
💜She chose to share

And through this film, Allyson continues to educate professionals, caregivers, and communities about what is possible at end of life.

If you missed our virtual screening—we’ll be hosting another one on March 18th.

If you are a clinician, death doula, or community organizer—the film is available for individual and community screenings and continuing education credit through the Hospice Foundation of America.

Visit our link in bio now to view Allyson’s compelling, deducational and very deadutaining story.
