🎉🎉🎉 Don’t miss the last weekend of Season Two of “Improvivor,” Whole World Improv Theatre’s riff on the reality TV show “Survivor,” inspired by founding improvisor Michael Snow’s appearance on “Survivor: Caramoan.”

🤣🤣🤣 Notably, Snow fainted twice. Not so notably, he got voted off early. But, as with legions of Whole World alums, he’s now enjoying a thriving career in New York.

🌊 Hey Atlantans! Have you heard of the South River? Do you know of the city’s history with it? I didn’t until Flux Projects sent artists Rachel Parish and Sarah Cameron Sunde off on a kayak journey from its shallows at the Browns Mill Golf Course all the way to Sapelo Island. And I have learned so much!! 👉👉👉

You can see the culmination of their journey THIS weekend, at the unveiling of temporary, nature-inspired art installations at three parks with South River tributaries: Arthur Langford Jr. Park, Kirkwood Urban Forest and Perkerson Park.

👠 Probably should have worn a heel!

🎉 Still - what an amazing night raising funds to pay rent for a year to 25 deserving Atlantans. There was not a detail overlooked at the FreeRentATL Charity Event - fab food, super fun live music, huge auction and great people watching. I’m actually glad I didn’t wear a heel, cuz you can still raise $260k for a great cause without your feet hurting or being boring.

And let me tell you, nothing about - the company behind FreeRentATL - is boring!

You can still donate!! Check out www.FreeRentATL.com to learn more. Last year they set out to pay rent for a year to 3 Atlantans but the need was so strong they paid a year’s rent for 7 Atlantans. This year they’re shooting higher with a goal rent for 25!!

💕 After decades as a social worker and “… seeing moms washing used disposable diapers because they couldn’t afford to buy fresh ones…” Jamie Lackey took the bold, hairy and audacious leap to start GA’s only baby supply bank, Helping Mamas.

What’s a baby supply bank? Glad you asked! Think food bank, but instead of food it’s:

“…diapers, wipes, baby clothes – the most expensive things parents need to have,” said Lackey. “And there was no public assistance or coordinated effort to help them.”

After ten years and more than 10M essential items distributed to the families that need them the most, Lackey continues to see the need grow.

Yet, as you can see from one of my fave pics of her, she’s cheering on her team, donors, board, partners and all the amazing folks who do the good work to keep the warehouse full!

Check out Season Two of “Improvivor” premiering THIS Saturday at 10 p.m. You can follow the laughs every Saturday throughout the month as this improvised riff on the reality show, “Survivor,” pits heroes against villains.

You can also see Improv in the Park at Atlantic Station the first Thursday of the month, TONIGHT from 7 to 8p and on Thursday, October 3.

Please mark your calendar to join us for the 30-year celebration “Homecoming Weekend,” Friday, October 11 and Saturday, October 12. Friday will feature two ticketed shows at 8 and 10 p.m. performed by its current ensemble and special guest appearances by Whole World alumni. Saturday will be a special event with live music by The Susi French Connection, including food trucks, a photo booth and more.

If you work in PR then you know the value of great photos to truly build a narrative.

I mean - every picture tells a story, don’t it??

So after going going back-and-forth with our awesome client Emily Reily Russell, managing director of Whole World Imrov Theatre, to get images for a Rough Draft story, many of them weren’t high res enough to use.

I love these cute ones of Emily and Whole World’s artistic director, Chip Powell, so much that I’m sharing them here 👉👉👉

Isn’t it funny how you can work with a reporter for - like - ever and not know that she’s always wanted to travel the length of the South River? That’s one of the great things about this job - you learn something new every day!

Hopefully, anyway!

Big thank you to Nedra Rhone for your interest in this captivating little story! “Atlanta to the Atlantic,” presented by Flux Projects, took artists Rachel Parish and Sarah Cameron Sunde on a 450-mile kayak trip from a shallow point of the South River at the Browns Mill Golf Course (👉 for previous post) to Sapelo Island where it feeds into the Atlantic Ocean.

Big thank you to Summer Evans and all the brilliant folks at WABE’s “City Lights” for an awesome interview w Gyun Hur in convo w Lois Reitzes about “Our mothers, our water, our peace,” presented by Flux Projects.

Hur explores how the Atlanta Spa Shootings in March 2021, followed by the escalation of hate crimes, instilled irreversible change in the narratives the next generation of Asian Americans will share with their children.

“Our mothers, our water, our peace” is part of Flux Projects’ multi-year series called FLOW, designed to explore ATL’s relationship with water.

You can see Hur at the Atlanta Art Fair, Oct 3-6, and the next March 15-30 Flux Projects will present her installations at the Goat Farm.
