Klein Ranch is a fourth generation farm and ranch that has it's roots back into the early 1920’s. Klein Ranch raises registered seed stock in Northwest Kansas. In 2004 Heath was given the opportunity to come back to the farm by his grandparents (Kendall and Dee Lores Klein) and parents (Doug and Jan Klein).Their farm is a grain and commercial cattle operation. In 2005, Heath began Klein Ranch for
his passion of the cattle industry and to create another dynamic to the family farm. Heath's wife Ami, teaches at Rawlins County High School and has an active part in the ranch. Heath and Ami, also have two great little ranch hands, Miles and Hudson. Klein Ranch is located 5 miles west and 2 miles north of Atwood, KS. Where the cattle graze primarily on the grasslands around the Beaver Creek as the terrain is very rough and hilly. The cattle have to be very sound to travel and be able to the handle the extremes of Northwest Kansas. This area is known for having 100 degree weeks in the summer to negative temperatures in the winter. Currently Klein Ranch is running 70 head of registered red and black Simmentals that are fifty percent to purebred cattle. Our cattle numbers have been building up through our embryo transfer program and buying genetics through well established breeders. Our genetics have been purchased from the ranches of Triangle J Ranch, Hoffman Simmentals, Wilkinson Farms, Lazy C Diamond Ranch, Pelton Simmental and Red Angus and Dixson Farms Simmentals. Cow families are the most important factor to us in building towards our future. Emphasizing these cattle to be moderate in frame with volume, thickness, longevity, and easy fleshing ability. By taking a balance approach of EPDs and never use single trait selection to obtain our goals and philosophies.
